The first digit tells you the floor, the second tells you the building and the last two digits are the room number.

For example, Room 3164 is on the third floor of Building A — Govil Hall.

🎣 Catch of the day: a fish no one knew existed.

Auburn biologist Jonathan Armbruster, curator of fishes at the Auburn University Museum of Natural History, helped identify the demon cavefish, a tiny, pale and eyeless species discovered in an Alabama cave. The unusual fish is so genetically distinct that it represents not only a new species — but an entirely new genus.

Auburn's Priscila Lotsch is finding out how small particles of gold interact with the mitochondria (or "power plants") of our cells on a long-term basis. These gold nanoparticles are being studied for their effects on neurogenerative diseases and cancer, and Dr. Lotch's NIH-funded research tracks work that could help us learn more about safer nanotech and power future medical breakthroughs.

Microbiology senior Pierce Meinert aimed to prove it: two research labs, a full course load, and three years in the Auburn University Marching Band. Now he's earned the Comer Medal, Auburn's oldest continuously awarded student honor. Next up is a PhD and learning more about antibiotic alternatives.
