The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture is launching a new Master of Science in Architecture program, with a focus on Mass Timber Design, starting this month.
The one-year degree program is split into three semesters, with the first cohort of students graduating in May 2027. The first semester will focus on mass timber tectonics, and the second will cover mass timber ecologies. In the final term, the students will complete an externship with a professional firm at the forefront of Mass Timber practice and capstone research project.

Alumna Amanda Loper has been elevated to The American Institute of Architects College of Fellows.
An associate at David Baker Architects, Loper challenges herself, her team and her peers to reexamine the scope of an architect. Beyond designing, she regularly asks how her architectural experience can be applied as a builder, project owner, policymaker, community member and steward of the built environment.

senior India Joiner was recognized in Auburn University’s 2026 Research Symposium for her creative work representing memory and emotion in space. 🧠
Drawing inspiration from the analytique, a canonical representational drawing rooted in the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Joiner investigated how digital and physical methods can work together to tell richer architectural stories.

Kevin Moore, APLA Gresham Associate Professor, was recently recognized by The American Institute of Architects and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture for his work in teaching housing design. 🏠
Moore received the award for adaptable housing design in Selma, Alabama, showcasing projects produced by 32 undergraduate students in his courses over the last two years.
