Cornell Cooperative Extension staff work with Cayuga County residents to assess important community issues and needs and to develop and implement appropriate strategies and programs to address those needs.

We are very excited to see this happen. We are moving into our 5th year of overseeing the operations of the NYS Fair Milk Bar. This workforce development program has employed 200 youth since 2022.
This also would not be possible without the collaboration we have with CCE Ontario County.

"Black Squirrel Farms [Yates County] grows raw black walnuts and purchases additional harvests from more than 100 local growers. After collecting from local growers, the operation hulls and dries the nuts to produce dry, hulled, whole in-shell black walnuts, which are further processed onsite into food products and value-added nutshell products, including granola, walnut oils, soaps and BBQ smoking chips.

Through the creation of a regional black walnut collection program, Black Squirrel Farms has established a unique supply chain that benefits local property owners and growers while supporting its own processing facility."

A little shout out to Addison and Olivia, our past employees of the NYS Fair Milk Bar!!

American Dairy Association North East hosted a panel of former New York State Dairy Ambassador team members who shared their experiences during the New York State Dairy Ambassador Training seminar in June. Each reflected on how one year representing New York dairy farmers became an experience that continues to influence who they are today.

Sharing their stories were Addison Brown of Onondaga County, Ariana Aman of Tioga County, Gabby Taylor of Wayne County, Justin Mesch of Erie County, and Olivia Maslyn of Ontario County.
