Congratulations to BSEN Research Engineer Kelly Griggs for being named in Alabama Business' Women in Tech 2026 List!

Kelly, a BSEN grad, has been a research engineer for the National Poultry Technology Center for 8 years. During that time, she has made significant advances in water quality research and provided countless poultry industry professionals with user-friendly technology in evaporative cooling systems.

In addition to being named the Department of Biosystems Engineering 2026 Outstanding Student, Al Dean Francisco is among the universityโ€™s 2026 Presidentโ€™s Awards recipients.
The Presidentโ€™s Awards recognizes one graduate from each college who has completed at least three semesters at Auburn with a minimum grade-point average of 3.40 and possesses outstanding qualities of leadership, citizenship, character and promise of professional ability.
As Al Dean leaves Auburn and begins work at NextEra Energy/Florida Power and Light Co. in Panama City. FL, he reflects on just what being a BSEN major (and winning such a prestigious award) meant to him.

Congratulations to seniors Will Neville, Mike Rogers, Fran Mann, and Sally Wingard for earning the top departmental award for Biosystems Engineering at the 2026 Auburn Engineering Capstone Design Showcase. They shared their design for the Montgomery Zoo Rain Garden at the event, which featured hundreds of students presenting senior design projects and research.

Their project was developed for Montgomery Zoo client Michelle Johnson and teams in Enrichment, Conservation, and Elephant Care. Congratulations on showcasing just how Biosystems Engineering students gain real-world experience, work directly with clients, and graduate ready to make an immediate impact!
