Hello Everyone!
I wanted to let you know that it is with a heavy heart I am sending this message to inform you that I will be leaving the ICA at the end of December. I am taking a new position with the Green River College Foundation. I have worked with the ICA for nearly 10 years and I have loved every moment! I have so enjoyed working with all the ICA art docent volunteers over the years. I will miss the constant interaction with the amazing ICA volunteers who want to ensure that the students in their schools have the opportunity to experience art β you all rock! Michelle Edwards will be stepping into my position through June of 2024. This will allow us the time needed to properly complete our search for this ICA leadership position. Thank you for all the years and the priceless memories I will hold close to my heart!

The Interurban Center For The Arts is happy to announce that the ICA is one of nine recipients in the first round of funding provided by 4Culture through their Public Access grant! This funding will help offset the annual membership fee of several 2023-24 elementary schools within our service area! The ICA would like to extend its gratitude to 4Culture for this funding opportunity! The ICA appreciates their continued support of the ICA and arts education within our local elementary schools.

Students in the Auburn School District have been exploring music and art through this year's Art Inspires Art series. Today we will be visiting Evergreen Heights Elementary!!! So exciting!
I would like to take this moment to wish all our member schools, art docent volunteers, and community partners Happy Holidays!!!πππ
The ICA is so grateful for the continued support of the GRC Foundation, 4Culture, Kent Arts Commission, and the Auburn Art Commission. More importantly, the ICA is grateful for all the parent volunteers who give of their time so that the youth in our local elementary schools have access to art!

Had an amazing opportunity to work with young students enrolled in the Muckleshoot Tribal School's summer school program this week! The ICA and Auburn Symphony Orchestra presented its Art Inspires Art series which combines music and art. These young students enjoyed a musical presentation by the Symphony's Quartet and then worked with the ICA to create a clay Dragon's eye. So much fun - they explored the music from How to Train Your Dragon and learned about non-verbal communication and how music and color are used to express emotion!

Tree damage -what a creative solution! What great artistry!
The tallest tree in Wales got damaged by a storm and was supposed to be cut down, instead chainsaw artist Simon O'Rourke found a better solution to symbolize the treeβs last attempt to reach the sky.

Some of the fun events the ICA has been a part of these last few weeks; Horizon Elementary classroom visit. On Saturday June 18th, the ICA worked with the Kent Community Foundation participating in the Kent International Festival. At the festival we displayed elementary school children's artwork from the KSD and there was an interactive origami project for event participants. So much fun and creativity in the air!!!!

The ICA and Auburn Symphony Orchestra spent a great day yesterday at Ilalko Elementary with their fifth grade classes. Brian Wharton from A*O, performed and spoke to students about the music (How to Train Your Dragon) from the upcoming Hollywood Takes Flight symphony performance. Afterwards the ICA, with a special thanks to Michelle Edwards, worked with kids on a clay Dragon's eye, exploring non-verbal communication and how emotion can be expressed through music and our eyes. Really important since students are all wearing masks! Once the clay dries the students will be able to color their Dragon Eyes. Thanks to the students of Ilalko Elementary, we had so much fun with all of you! A special thanks to Rachel Perry with A*O for all your help yesterday and in making this project possible!
