Open Doors is a re-engagement program to help students ages 16-21 reach their educational goals at Green River College.
We pay for tuition, books, and some fees while also providing wrap around services so the student can focus on their academic goals. Students are able to work towards their GED, High School Diploma, Technical Certificates, or Associate's Degree. Eligible students must be:
- Between the ages of 16 to 21
-Significantly high school credit deficient or one year passed their graduation cohort date
-Have not earned their high school diploma (GED earners are still eligible).

If you find yourself in any of the situations below, please reach out to see if withdrawing is the best option.
You are not currently passing your classes (overall grade is below a 65%).
You missed too many assignments or tests, and they cannot be made up.
You missed multiple days of class and have not talked to your instructor about it.
You used the “grades” section in Canvas where you can predict your scores for remaining assignments and even with perfect scores on everything, you won’t pass the class.
If you feel you are behind in your classes, please reach out to your instructors. Ask them what they think you should do and if they think you can still make a passing grade. Although sometimes difficult, this is an important conversation to have because it will help you decide if withdrawing is the best course of action. Your instructor knows better than anyone what is possible/ likely in their course. They will also help you figure out where to best focus your energy to get back on track or get the help you need.
We always say, “it’s better the withdraw than fail” and we mean that! If you aren’t sure what to do, reach out to your case manager. We can talk you through it and help you decide what makes the most sense. After this Friday, you will have to keep the classes you have so if you are feeling like withdrawing is something you want to do, please make sure you reach out before Friday at 4pm.
