🍽️ ECE Families – It's the FINAL WEEK of our Annual Food Drive! 💚

Thank you to everyone who has already donated and helped support our community! This week is the last week of our food drive, and our theme is:

🍝 Week 4: Bring Something for DINNER!

We're collecting non-perishable dinner items to help stock the Auburn Food Bank. Some great ideas include:

Pasta & pasta sauce
Rice
Canned vegetables
Canned chicken or tuna
Boxed meals (mac & cheese, rice or pasta sides)
Soup or chili
Canned beans

Donations can be dropped off at your child's classroom.

Every donation, big or small, helps make a difference for families in our community. Thank you for helping us finish our food drive strong! ❤️

🌞 Keeping Our Little Learners Safe During Heat & Poor Air Quality 🌫️

Dear ECE Families,
With high temperatures and the potential for smoky air from wildfires, we're sharing this helpful flyer with tips on how to keep children safe, healthy, and comfortable at home.

Some important reminders:
💧 Offer water often throughout the day.
🧢 Dress children in lightweight clothing and use sunscreen when outdoors.
🌳 Plan outdoor play during cooler parts of the day and seek shade.
🏠 Keep indoor spaces cool and, when air quality is poor, keep windows and doors closed if possible.
😷 Watch for signs of heat-related illness or smoke-related symptoms, especially in young children.

At Muckleshoot Early Childhood Education, our staff closely monitor heat and air quality conditions throughout the day. We adjust outdoor activities as needed and take extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of every child.

The health and safety of our children is always our top priority. Our ECE team monitors both heat and air quality daily and will adjust outdoor activities as needed to keep children safe.

Our staff will be participating in Professional Development to continue providing the highest quality care and education for the children and families we serve.

👶 Need childcare during the closure?
Now is the time to make backup care arrangements.

If you are an approved CCDF family, you may use the list of approved providers to locate drop-in care. If you have a family member, friend, or neighbor who would like to be your backup provider, encourage them to complete a home care provider application as soon as possible. All providers must complete the required screenings and be approved by CCDF before subsidy payments can be made.

The CCDF Program is inviting tribally certified and licensed child care providers to attend the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., taking place December 4–9, 2026.

📝 Conference request deadline: August 14, 2026

🥫 Join Our Annual Food Drive! 🍎

We're excited to kick off our Annual Food Drive from July 7 – July 31! Help us support the Auburn Food Bank by donating non-perishable food items at any of our participating locations: YDP, MELA, CCDF, and MCDC.

To make it fun, each week has a different theme:
🥣 Week 1: Breakfast items
🥪 Week 2: Lunch items
🍿 Week 3: Snack items
🍝 Week 4: Dinner items

Every donation helps provide meals for families in our community. At the end of the food drive, participating classrooms will celebrate with their favorite menu meal!
