Today we mourn the loss of an American icon, a beloved philanthropist and a proud 4-H alumna, Dolly Parton. Her extraordinary life was defined not only by her incredible talent, but by her unwavering generosity, compassion and commitment to helping others.

For generations of young people, Dolly embodied what it means to use your gifts in service of others. From her roots in 4-H to her lifelong investment in literacy, education and community, she showed us that true leadership is grounded in humility, kindness, and purpose. As Dolly once said, "storms make trees take deeper roots." 💚

A proud 4-H alumna, she reminded us that challenges can strengthen us and help us grow. That wisdom will continue to inspire young people and communities for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the millions whose lives she touched. Her legacy of hope, generosity, and service will live on. 🍀

4-H AmeriCorps members help deliver high-quality youth development opportunities to high-need communities across Alabama. They engage with Alabama 4-H youth in grades 4-12 to deliver hands-on educational programming.

Alabama 4-H'ers were shooting sharp at the Buckmasters Top Bow Archery Competition this weekend! 🍀🏹🎯

The weekend kicked off with the 4-H Division on Friday. The top 4-H teams advanced to the Open Division on Saturday. Congratulations to Charlie Long from Lawrence County 4-H for winning the Overall Champion Title over a highly competitive group of youth from across the Southeast!

From the lab to an international stage, these Alabama 4-H’ers took their interest in poultry science to a whole new level.

As the first participants in the 4-H Poultry Pioneers program, four high school students spent the past year conducting hands-on research designed to benefit small flock owners. Working in pairs, they collected samples, analyzed data and gained firsthand experience in the labs of Auburn University’s Department of Poultry Science.

Their work ultimately took them all the way to Toronto, Canada, where they presented their research at the Poultry Science Association Annual Meeting alongside poultry scientists from around the world.
