In 2020, the documentary Coded Bias explained MIT media researcher Joy Buolamwini's discovery of racial bias in facial recognition algorithms and revealed numerous ways artificial intelligence embeds bias into our day-to-day lives! In this two-day event, we will explore the fall-out of the film and examine where we are now. On March 16, join a virtual discussion of the documentary Coded Bias. On March 17, we will hear from a panel of experts: Dr. Christopher Harris (Auburn University), Dr. Jesmin Khan (Tuskegee University), and Dr. Candice Lanius (University of Alabama Huntsville).

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on October 14th, 1964 for his method of non-violent demonstrations against racial prejudice in the U.S. Hear his acceptance speech here:

According to Nobel Prize, the recording is dated December 11, 1964, and captured Dr. King's Nobel Peace Prize Lecture in Oslo, Norway.
