Denton ISD Fine Arts welcomes Braswell High School Percussion Director Mr. Jesus Martinez!

Mr. Martinez is a music educator, percussion specialist, composer, and arts leader with more than a decade of experience serving students across North Texas. Most recently, he served as Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie ISD, where his students and ensembles earned national recognition, including designation as a Mark of Excellence National Percussion Ensemble Honors National Winner (2025), an invitation for the South Grand Prairie Wind Ensemble to perform at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference(2025), and an invitation for the South Grand Prairie Percussion Ensemble to perform at the 2024 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) after earning Second Place in the International Percussion Ensemble Competition (IPEC). A four-time Quarterfinalist for the Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Museum, Martinez is dedicated to advancing music education through excellence, innovation, and student-centered learning. Beyond the classroom, he is an active composer whose music is published by C. Alan Publications and Murphy Music Press. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a Professional Member of The Recording Academy(©The GRAMMY’s), and a Vic Firth Educational Artist. Known for fostering creativity, leadership, and artistic achievement, Martinez is committed to empowering young musicians to reach their fullest potential both on and off the stage.

Last night, we proudly celebrated the incredible accomplishments of many of our seniors at the Bengal Excellence Awards Ceremony! 🎓🐅

This special evening recognized students for their outstanding academic achievements, prestigious scholarships, military enlistments, and the recipients of our four campus awards. We are so proud of the hard work, resilience, leadership, and dedication demonstrated by the Class of 2026 throughout their high school journey.

Our students continue to inspire us with the bright futures they are creating — whether continuing their education, serving our country, or pursuing new opportunities beyond graduation. The scholarship earnings shared tonight are a true testament to the talent and determination of this remarkable senior class. To date, the scholarships offered to our seniors totals $12,495,434.

Congratulations to all of our honorees and their families on these well-deserved recognitions. Your Bengal family is cheering you on every step of the way, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish next!
