The Agricultural Education Program


The agricultural education program is built on the three core areas of classroom/laboratory instruction, supervised agricultural experience (SAE) programs and FFA student organization activities/opportunities. The program is designed for delivery through these three components as follows:

Classroom/Laboratory Instruction – quality instruction in and about agriculture that utilizes a “learning by doing” philosophy. Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs – all students are expected to have an agriculturally related work-based learning experience while enrolled in agricultural education courses. FFA Student Organization Activities/Opportunities – FFA activities are an integral part of the agricultural education program that all agricultural education students should participate in if they are to fully benefit from their enrollment in the program.

We have 40 students combined in Turf I & II this year, which is AWESOME! 🌱🚜🏈⚾

The challenge? Figuring out how to get this “herd” trained, experienced, and comfortable operating equipment while learning real-world industry practices is a little like trying to manage a pen full of otters! 🦦🤣 Organized chaos might be an understatement!

My strategy? Put our Turf II students to work as mentors, supervisors, and trainers, giving them valuable experience in leadership, communication, responsibility, and teaching others. Meanwhile, our Turf I students are getting hands-on experience learning from their peers.

The ultimate goal? Keep EVERYONE safe, develop industry-ready skills, build confidence, and hopefully have all 40 students (and their instructor) survive the experience! 🤣🚜

Some days, I think I’m teaching Turfgrass & Sports Field Management. Other days, I’m pretty sure I’m running a wildlife sanctuary! 🦦😂

Congratulations to all of our teams, and a special congratulations to all of our Outstanding Officers! We are so proud of each of you.
