Beautiful weather for a hike last week! We took a 1.5 mile hike around Lake Williams/Boardwalk in Marlborough.

Some more science fun last week! This time we took a look at why apples turn brown once we cut them open and what liquids would protect the apple from turning color.

We took a field trip to Wolf Hollow last week and enjoyed a very informative presentation. The wolves were very beautiful and we got to hear some howls as well! After, we stopped by a wildlife sanctuary and took a short walk through the woods and the kids scattered some birdseeds.

We explored why leaves change color and separated the chlorophyll from the leaves to reveal hidden pigments. Some questions we examined were what three things do plants need? What happens during photosynthesis? What gives leaves and stems their vibrant green color? And what happens to the chlorophyll during fall and winter?

We took a field trip to Castle Island in Boston last week. It was a very informative tour of the fort and we all learned a lot. Weather was beautiful too! We had a picnic after, and kids played at the playground, and one tried out his fishing rod. 🎣

Its was a great first week back! Littles explored dramatic play, we did some fun ice breaker activities, started a new chapter book, read a couple other story books, wrote in our new journals and worked on some graphing. Weather was beautiful so we enjoyed pool time in the afternoon and took a field trip to the beach on Thursday!
