Today, six agriculture students in grades 10-12 had the opportunity to attend Alfred State College’s VAST-CDE (Veterinary, Agriculture, STEM & Trades Career Discovery Event) today! It was a hands-on day filled with activities that gave students a chance to explore the many career opportunities connected to agriculture, trades, STEM, and veterinary science.

Some of the students’ favorite experiences included milk testing, the hay bale throwing contest, watching a herding dog work with sheep, navigating the skid steer obstacle course, and getting to operate an excavator! Some of them explored criminal justice by putting their fingerprint on a balloon, and blowing up the balloon to recognize patterns in their fingerprints. Some also learned how to monitor vital signs in calves and tying knots when dealing with tying livestock.

We love giving our students opportunities to get out of the classroom, try new things, and see agriculture and related careers in action. A huge thank you to Alfred State College for hosting such a fun and engaging day for our students!

Who knows—maybe today’s experience sparked a future career!

Students will not be selling tickets to this, but you can reach out to Attica Partners for Agriculture if you’d like to purchase yours! These will sell out quick, so don’t wait!

By purchasing tickets, you are supporting our agriculture education program and helping make many activities possible for our students. Scholarships for seniors, FFA trip funding support, and donations of classroom materials are just a few of the many ways that APA helps support our program.

Today we harvested the remaining zucchini and stocked the farmstand with more onions, gourds, and apples.

Of course the 7th grade Intro to Ag students couldn’t resist taste-testing the apples… and they highly recommend! Don’t forget to grab a bag of Cortland or Honeycrisp apples to support our FFA fundraiser 🍎

The farmstand is looking a little bare today, but by 9am tomorrow it will be stocked with squash, tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers!

By Friday we’re hoping to have it stocked with Cortland apples. A huge thank you to Panek Farms for generously donating Cortland apples to support our FFA fundraiser! 🍎 We truly appreciate your continued support of our students and our program. Your generosity helps make wonderful opportunities possible for our students! 💙💛

If you’d like to pre-order some apples for pickup at the school, please use this link and an FFA officer will be in touch!

This past Wednesday was our annual chicken bbq fundraiser. From preparing coleslaw and bake goods, to setting up, serving meals, and cleaning up afterward, our students are putting their hands to work and learning that FFA is about so much more than agriculture — it’s about service, leadership, and giving back.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by, supported our fundraiser. Your support helps provide opportunities for our members to learn, compete, travel, lead, and grow.

A huge thank you to our students, families, volunteers, and community members who helped make the day possible. We are proud to serve the community that continues to support Attica FFA!

Hope to see you there!

The farmstand has been restocked with local produce— a lot of which was picked from the school gardens by students! We’ve got gourds, onions, garlic, butternut squash, an assortment of peppers, several types of tomatoes, and cucumbers. Enjoy!

We’re leaving Camp Oswegatchie feeling incredibly proud of this group! 💙💛

From the first activity to the last meal, our members were engaged, encouraging, and inclusive of one another. They challenged themselves, supported their teammates, shared plenty of laughs, and made the most of every opportunity to grow as leaders.

Last night our seniors, Gavin and Logan, put their problem solving to the test to get our campfire going! The rest of the evening was spent around the fire singing karaoke.

A huge thank you to Mr. Carpenter for joining us at Camp Oswegatchie! We are so grateful for the laughs, advice, encouragement, and extra set of hands throughout the trip. Our members certainly enjoyed having you along for the adventure!

It was even more special that Gavin and his cousin Jacob got to spend their first Oswegatchie experience together. This was a first FFA camping experience for about half of these kids. We’re heading home with full hearts, lots of memories, and an even stronger FFA family.
