Our FFA members had an incredible showing at the Wyoming County fair! From small engines and identification to agronomy and stockman’s challenge, our students put their agricultural skills and knowledge to the test.

Small Engines: Morgan Capen — 1st, Lawson Meeder — 4th, Jacob Copeland — 6th, helping our chapter earn 2nd Place Overall.

Tool ID: Our chapter took 1st Place, with Jacob Copeland — 2nd, Morgan Capen — 3rd, and Gavin — 4th.

🌾 Agronomy: Logan Domes earned 1st Place, with the chapter taking 3rd Place.

🐄 Stockman’s: Evie earned 3rd Place.

We also want to congratulate all of our FFA members who raised and cared for livestock throughout the year and represented our chapter proudly in the show ring!

Alongside chapter officers from Warsaw, Elba, and Perry, our team spent 2 days growing as leaders and preparing for a successful year ahead. Officers learned more about the responsibilities of their individual roles, collaborated to develop a Program of Activities aligned with the National FFA standards, and even “built the perfect officer” by identifying the qualities every leader should strive for—and the habits they should avoid.

One of the most meaningful activities focused on making our chapter welcoming and inclusive to everyone. We explored ways to engage students from all backgrounds because FFA is for everyone, whether or not they have an agricultural background.

A huge thank you to NY FFA State President Sage Schroeder for leading an engaging and inspiring workshop that challenged our officers to think like empowering leaders.

We also want to extend our appreciation to Abbey Paddock for capturing group photos and individual officer headshots. Your photography will help us showcase our chapter throughout the year! We can’t wait to post them 😊

We’re excited to put these ideas into action and make this one of our best years yet!

Today, three members traveled to the Genesee County Fairgrounds to compete in the New York State FFA Tractor Driving & Welding Competition!

The Tractor Driving Contest challenges students to demonstrate their knowledge of tractor operation, safety, pre-operation inspections, and precision driving skills. The Welding Competition tests students’ technical welding abilities, metal fabrication, and problem-solving as they complete a hands-on project.

🎉 Congratulations to Morgan for earning 3rd place in Sr. Tractor Driving!

A special shoutout also goes to one of our welding competitors who had never used a plasma cutter before the contest and still produced a project that placed in the Top 3 in its category—an outstanding accomplishment that speaks to his adaptability and perseverance. Additionally, our competitors made us proud through sharing knowledge of welding with a journalist from the Batavia Daily News. Take a look at our recent shared video from today.

Experiences like these help our members build confidence, develop valuable career skills, and connect with students from across New York State.

Now that the final results are in, we are excited to recognize the accomplishments of our members at the 101st NYS FFA Convention!

This year, our chapter was represented in a wide variety of competitions and leadership events:
• 8 students competed in Ag Sales — the first time our chapter has ever had teams compete in this event!
• 4 students competed in Jr. Food Science — another chapter first!
• 4 students competed in Jr. Quiz Bowl
• 4 students competed in Sr. Quiz Bowl
• 8 students competed in Maple
• 1 student competed in the Agriscience Fair for the very first time, completing a project studying flavor preference in horses
• 3 delegates represented our chapter by voting on issues affecting the future of FFA

We are also proud to celebrate four members who earned their Empire Degrees: Maddie, Gavin, Morgan, and Dalton. This degree is the highest honor the New York State FFA Association can bestow upon its members and recognizes years of dedication, leadership, and growth in agricultural education.

We are especially proud to recognize the following individual accomplishments:
🏅 Addie — Top 6 in Sr. Creed
🏅 Sam — Top 6 in Jr. Creed
🥉 Caden — 3rd Place in Jr. Extemporaneous Speaking
🏅 Jacob — 6th Place in Jr. Food Science
🏅 Caden — 9th Place in Jr. Food Science

Whether members brought home awards, competed for the first time, earned degrees, or stepped outside their comfort zones, we are incredibly proud of every student who represented our chapter this week. The growth, teamwork, leadership, and dedication shown by these students made this convention a success!
