Escambia County Schools, AL will remain closed until Monday as we continue recovery efforts following Hurricane Isaias. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. We appreciate your patience and support as teams work to assess and secure our campuses.
We hope to resume extracurricular practices later this week, and updates will be shared as they become available. Stay safe, Escambia County!

Escambia County Schools is currently assessing all facilities following the impact of Hurricane Isaias. For your safety, please do not attempt to enter any school or district building at this time. Only essential maintenance and technology personnel are working as assessments and cleanup efforts continue. Schools and Central Office will remain closed Monday and Tuesday.
Additional updates will be shared as information becomes available. We anticipate providing another update by Tuesday regarding the return of staff and students. If closures must be extended, notifications will be communicated through our district communication channels and social media.

Please stay safe and continue to monitor official Escambia County Schools updates.

Rachel Patterson Elementary School will be **CLOSED on Friday, October 9, 2026, due to inclement weather.**

Fall break will be Oct. 12th-13th. We pray that all of our students, families, and staff remain **safe and protected** during this weather event. 🙏🏾❤️

Escambia County Schools Families and Staff,

Out of an abundance of caution and based on forecasts indicating the potential for severe weather impacts across our area, all Escambia County Schools will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The safety of our students, employees, and families remains our highest priority. District officials will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and work with local emergency management officials to assess any additional impacts.

All school activities, athletic events, extracurricular activities, and after-school programs scheduled for Friday are canceled. As previously communicated, athletic contests have been moved to Thursday, and no extracurricular activities will be held this weekend due to the anticipated weather.

We encourage all families and staff to remain weather aware and follow guidance from local emergency management and public safety officials.

Any additional updates will be communicated through our district website, social media channels, SchoolStatus notifications, and local media outlets.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe.

We also want to remind families that Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13, are scheduled fall break days. Students will return to school on Wednesday, October 14.

We know changes to the school schedule can require families to make adjustments, and we appreciate your understanding as we make decisions based on the safety of our school community.

Our students had a great time learning important bus safety rules and reminders to help keep themselves and others safe while riding the school bus. 🚌❤️

Our 5th graders had an incredible time at The Strand for their very first Art class! The students got hands-on with oil pastels to create colorful, detailed pumpkin masterpieces. From bold shading to unique personal touches, their artistic talents truly shined through.
