Bid Issuance 1 is scheduled to begin construction in April 2027, with substantial completion projected for January 2028. Bid Issuance 2 is planned across three summers, with substantial completion projected for August 2029. Bid Issuance 3 is currently deferred, with construction projected to begin in 2030 and substantial completion projected in March 2031.

Careful sequencing helps the District plan for student learning, building operations, and project completion.

Atlantic CSD’s building project is moving from schematic design into the next major planning steps.

The revised milestone schedule shows the Design Development phase running from June 22, 2026 through October 14, 2026. A 50% Design Development coordination set is scheduled for August, with 100% Design Development work and updated cost reporting to follow.

The timeline also includes future construction document work, bidding, GMP review, and construction administration phases.

Atlantic CSD is also reviewing value engineering options as part of the building project planning process.

The value engineering review includes options connected to Washington Elementary, Schuler/Middle School, and Atlantic High School. The log identifies a minimum target of $3 million in value engineering, with a listed subtotal of approximately $3.56 million in indirect cost savings.

This process helps the District evaluate priorities, costs, and long-term facility needs while continuing to focus on the best outcomes for students and staff.

As part of the schematic design phase, Atlantic CSD has been reviewing project costs, scope, and budget alignment.

The schematic design cost comparison shows the current total construction cost estimate at approximately $26.3 million. The review also identifies budget differences by project area and notes ongoing work around scope, priorities, and cost management.

The District is continuing to work with SVPA Architects and DCI Group to review costs, value engineering options, and responsible next steps.

Good stewardship matters, and we will continue to keep the community informed as the project develops.

The renderings show the planned classroom addition and how it connects with the existing high school building. The high school work is part of Bid Issuance 1, which includes High School additions and renovations, as well as Schuler/Middle School secure entry and restroom work.

The Atlantic High School schematic design includes secure entry and office updates, media center remodeling, new conference space, a family restroom, a mother’s room, and corridor flex seating areas.

The plans also include a classroom addition with four classrooms totaling approximately 4,250 square feet, with individual classrooms of approximately 810 square feet. The gray area on the plan identifies storm shelter space.

These updates are designed to support safety, flexibility, and student learning at the high school level.

Schuler Elementary design work includes important updates focused on safety, access, and building function.

The schematic design includes a secure entry update, including remodeled entry and office space, as well as secure entry door and window improvements. Restroom renovation planning includes work on gang restrooms on each floor, new plumbing piping and fixtures, and updated toilet partitions and accessories.
These updates are part of the District’s ongoing commitment to safer, stronger school facilities.
