Please join us tomorrow at 1pm for this free workshop
Recently, our neighborhood lost a 7 year old boy named Jayden, and a lot of us are still trying to figure out what to do with that.
If you spent any time around the skate park or up and down the block, you probably knew him. Jayden was the kid who was always outside. He taught younger kids how to ride bikes, went fishing and kayaking, loved his motorcycle, and was at the skate park every chance he got learning to skate. He talked to adults like equals, and he had friends of every age.
So we’re coming together in his name.
Friends Forever: A Memory Box Class in Honor of Jayden
Sunday, October 4 at 1 PM
Mighty Writers, 211 Melrose Avenue, Atlantic City
Led by artist Cara Vaughn, with guided meditation by Lyntaga Smith
Lunch from Tony Boloney’s
Everyone will create and decorate a small memory box for someone they’ve lost. Decorate the outside with who they were and what they loved. Inside goes everything you never got to say, and the things you wish you could say to them one more time. Those words and feelings get a place to live now, somewhere other than inside you. What goes in the box stays between you and them.
This kind of work stirs up big feelings, so Lyntaga will open the afternoon with a guided meditation to help everyone settle in, and close it with another so no one walks out carrying more than they came in with.
This class is in honor of Jayden, but it’s also for anyone carrying someone they lost in their hearts. All are welcome here.
Free and open to everyone. Please share this so it reaches the people who loved him and the people who need this afternoon of creation and community.
