We are currently recruiting 3- to 8-year-olds who either only speak English or are a Spanish-English bilingual or Chinese-English bilingual for our research study exploring how early language and thinking skills develop. We hope you and your child may be interested in participating!
To participate, your child must:
Be 3- to 8-years old
Speak only English, Spanish and English, or Chinese and English
Be right-handed
If you choose to participate, you and your child will be asked to:
Attend 3-4 sessions on the Emory University Campus
Complete language and thinking games and surveys
Complete games in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner
MRI is a safe, non-invasive research tool that uses radio waves, like those used by an AM/FM radio, to take pictures while a person is laying in a machine shaped like a tunnel.
As a thank you for completing the study, you will receive up to $122.50 in gift cards. You will be paid at a rate of $7.50 per 30 minutes of participation and will also receive a study bonus of $25 if you complete all of your sessions. Your child will receive a picture of their brain, via MRI, and a completion certificate. Each visit will be scheduled for 1-2 hours, and all parking expenses will be covered. Sessions can occur on any day of the week, and we will work with you to find a schedule that works best for your family.
