The legacy continues. 🤝✨
We are incredibly proud to highlight a powerful hand-off in leadership within the Morehouse Student Government Association. Both our current SGA President, Kenneth Ugo, and SGA President-elect, Christopher Lambry, share a common bond: they are both Oprah Winfrey Scholars.
This program was built to nurture "servant leaders," and seeing these two scholars lead the Maroon Tiger student body back-to-back is a testament to the vision Mrs. Winfrey invested in years ago.
Excellence isn't just a goal; it’s the standard.

Last month, we gave a trailblazer her flowers. 💐
We are still reflecting on last month’s beautiful Crown Forum ceremony honoring Dr. Jann Adams. Surrounded by the very family, friends, and scholars she has directly impacted throughout her tenure, we celebrated her transition into this permanent place in Morehouse history.
As a tenured professor and a visionary leader of the AYCGL, Dr. Adams has spent decades opening doors for others—whether through global study abroad initiatives or championing African American PhDs in STEM. A true “leader of leaders,” her portrait stands as a testament to what is possible when brilliance meets dedication.

We recently gathered for the screening of Faith on the Frontline, a documentary exploring the legacy of the National Council of Churches. It was a privilege to host Ambassador Andrew Young and Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie for a fireside chat that bridged the gap between historical movements and today’s mission.
Huge shoutout to our student moderators, Jordan Freeman ‘26 and Keith Tillett, II ‘28, for leading a brilliant discussion!

Last weekend, with the generous support of the Julian Grace Foundation, the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership led nearly 70 Morehouse students to Charleston, South Carolina for the African American Heritage and History Study Tour.
Students visited the International African American Museum, where they explored Charleston’s central role in the transatlantic slave trade, through which more than 40% of enslaved Africans entered the United States, and learned about the enduring culture and legacy of the Gullah Geechee community. The group also toured McLeod Plantation, one of the few historic sites in South Carolina dedicated to interpreting history through the lived experiences and perspectives of enslaved people and their descendants.
Students had the honor of meeting with civil rights leader Dr. Millicent Brown, whose role in South Carolina’s Brown v. Board of Education movement provided powerful lessons on leadership, courage, and activism. Her words, “Change does not equal progress,” challenged students to think critically about their role in advancing justice.
Many students shared that the experience deepened their connection to their history and strengthened their commitment to creating meaningful change. We are deeply grateful to the for making this transformative experience possible and for investing in the next generation of Morehouse leaders.

Inspiring Wisdom from the Architect of Justice! 🇿🇦
Today, the legacy of justice and activism came alive as Retired Justice Albie Sachs joined us, courtesy of the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership! From surviving imprisonment and targeted violence during Apartheid to serving on South Africa’s first Constitutional Court, Justice Sachs’s life is a masterclass in resilience.
The energy was electric as he fielded insightful questions from our Oprah Winfrey Scholars on everything from constitutional drafting to the ongoing fight for human rights. Moments like these—where seasoned global leaders connect directly with emerging change-makers—are what global leadership is all about.
We are inspired by his dedication and the brave work he continues to champion, including receiving the inaugural Albie Award!
