We offer more than a curriculum -- we are a community of parents and teachers putting the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason into practice.

What kind of culture do you hope to cultivate in your home next year?

More singing?
More beauty?
More outdoor life?
More good literature?

Education is not just about what’s on the timetable—it is about who we become.

We are grateful to prepare for another year of living education together. Our full curriculum is now available and ready for you to dive in!

There’s still time to join us for the CMEC Summer Retreat! 🌿📚

This year, we’ll be exploring Mason’s idea of “A Liberal Education for All,” July 13-14 in the Philadelphia area at the beautiful Inn at Villanova.

Over two restful, idea-filled days, you’ll experience immersion lessons shaped by Charlotte Mason’s principles—the very kind of learning we hope to cultivate for our children. Together we’ll dive in to:

🎨 Artist study
🎼 Composer study
🌿 Nature study
🧵 Handicrafts
🎶 Singing & recitation
📖 Shared readings & narration

Rather than rushing through ideas, we’ll slow down enough to truly attend to them. You’ll have space to reflect, learn, and experience how education rooted in living ideas can refresh both mind and spirit.

Whether you’re new to Charlotte Mason or have followed her methods for years, this retreat offers a beautiful opportunity to step away from daily routines and reconnect with the heart of a liberal education.

✨ Meals are included during workshop days, and there will be plenty of time for fellowship, conversation, and renewal. Check out the link in our stories to register!

One of the things that is unique about the CMEC is the flexibility of our approach!

We don’t provide strict schedules that you have to follow, or heavy reading loads that make you always feel behind. We’re all homeschooling moms, so we know how unpredictable life with children of all ages can be—and we created a program that can adjust to these ups and downs, not work against them.

Our member, Amanda, sums this up so well…

“The CMEC curriculum is wide, and flexible! We have found that we can easily add something to the curriculum or drop something if it does not fit our season of life. All without hindering the flow of the school day.”

We’d love to hear what questions you have about homeschooling with the CMEC!

Charlotte Mason homeschooling can look overwhelming from the outside—but you don’t have to do it all at once.

Starting small is always an option, whether you’re new to the CMEC or just in a full season of life. Our programs are flexible by design, and we aim to keep the workload doable.

Have you tried a scaled-down approach in your homeschool? How have you made it work? Let us know in the comments!

If you have little ones at home, you may be wondering…

“What should we be doing right now?”

The answer may be simpler than you think!

The CMEC Kinderleben program, included in our membership, helps you focus on what truly matters in the early years: a rich home life, good habits, time outside, and a steady feast of stories, songs, and meaningful work.

There’s no rush or pressure to “get ahead.” Just clear guidance rooted in Charlotte Mason’s vision for the early years—and lived out in a way that fits your real home.

Come see how peaceful and life-giving these years can be.

How do we select the CMEC term artists and composers?

We do not choose lightly. We study Charlotte Mason’s own programs—the very selections she spread before her students. We pour over the Parents’ Review to understand the choices they made and the spirit behind them.

And then, with that inheritance in view, we ask:
What habits of attention will this music cultivate?
What historical and cultural threads does it connect?

Our goal is to provide the framework for a living education that brings delight and wonder into your home, which is why our artists and composers are not only technically skilled, but chosen to inspire a love for truth, beauty, and goodness.

When you become a CMEC member, you receive all the Common Subjects guides—thoughtfully written, carefully structured, and practical for family learning. Join us today for access to the Common Subjects Program, our recorded launch, and the supporting guides!

CMEC guides are written to support you, no matter where you are in your homeschooling journey.

They are there to give you detail when you need it, offer ideas when you feel stuck, and help you see the richness in what might otherwise feel ordinary.

Charlotte Mason writes, “Our error is to suppose that we must act as [the student’s] showman to the universe.” And yet, so many prepackaged curricula do just that.

Our guides are different—written from one homeschool mom to another. They are designed to leave room for the work that truly belongs to you.

As Mason reminds us, “Our part is to remove obstructions, to give stimulus and guidance to the child who is trying to get into touch with the universe of things and thoughts.”

With a CMEC guide, you are not managing your child’s learning—you are entering into it with them.

In a living education, art, music, and handicrafts are not “extras.”

Instead, we believe these “common subjects” help to shape the atmosphere of the home.

They train attention, form taste, and cultivate patience. And they build up a shared family culture.

On May 11th, we will unveil the 2026–27 Common Subjects for CMEC families—the artists, composers, handicrafts, and songs that will shape the year ahead.
Education is more than academics. It is a full life.
