Over the 2025-26 season, over 100 WPMA students presented 10 concerts in our revamped Monthly Spotlight Concert Series. 💫

These students performed works from 46 different composers and spent nearly 40 hours rehearsing with and performing alongside professional staff accompanists in front of the most supportive audience of loving parents.

For some students performing here was a nerve wracking experience—one of their first solo performances in front of a live audience—while for others this was just another routine performance opportunity they used as preparation for an upcoming audition, competition, masterclass, or performance with an orchestra. Regardless, it was wonderful to hear you perform and an honor to have been witness to your growth, no matter what stage you are at!

Keep working hard and sharing your music with audiences, and we look forward to seeing you back in the spotlight come Fall 💌

We’re excited to finally announce the WPMA Pre-College — a conservatory-track program for serious young string players in the greater Atlanta area. ☝️

WPMA Pre-College is open to violin, viola, and cello students ages 8–18 who demonstrate the talent, discipline, and commitment to pursue advanced study at the college level. Every admitted student receives the Pre-College Strings Scholars Award — a merit-based scholarship awarded exclusively on the basis of merit at the time of admission.

Last Saturday, our chamber students took the stage for our spring chamber music recital — and delivered! Their performances reminded us why chamber music continues to be an essential pillar in a young musician’s maturation. The growth showcased was genuinely impressive and a testament to their consistent practice and depth of instruction from the past year. 💐

The highlight of the afternoon came when chamber students and audience members had the opportunity to sight-read Mendelssohn’s Octet alongside four members of our WPMA faculty. Watching students rise to the challenge in real time was nothing short of joyful.

Grateful to our faculty for making events like this possible! More to come.

34 WPMA students earned 54 top honors at the 2026 GMTA State Auditions — representing nearly 1 in 6 awards given across the Piano and Strings divisions statewide. From Conference Recitalist to Honorable Mention, this year’s results reflect the dedication of our students and the exceptional teaching of our faculty. We commend everyone who competed! 🫰

“About the GMTA Competition

The Georgia Music Teachers Association is a nonprofit organization of over 700 independent and collegiate music teachers throughout the state, committed to furthering the art of music through programs that encourage and support teaching, performance, and scholarly research. The State Auditions recognize the top students across various instrumental disciplines from grades 2 through 12, and represent the final level of a multi-round competitive process that begins at the local and regional levels. Outstanding Performer is the highest award given at the state level, and only one student per grade level per division is selected as Conference Recitalist — an honor that includes a performance at the fall GMTA Conference.”

Congratulations to current WPMA students, Ethan Goh and Fisher Yu, who were selected for the National Youth Orchestra (NYO) and NYO2 Summer programs after passing a very competitive nation-wide audition process.

“Ethan and Fisher were selected as 1 of 10 cellists and 1 of 12 violists, respectively, across the United States…

About NYO & NYO2

The National Youth Orchestra (NYO) and NYO2 are among the most prestigious youth orchestras in the nation, comprised of students across the nation who are selected through a rigorous audition process. While the NYO program is designed for students age 16-19, NYO2 is made up of students age 14-16. Students who are accepted attend the program at no cost to them.

The program for each orchestra runs 3-4 weeks during the Summer and typically features a two-week residency at Purchase College, a Carnegie Hall performance, and an international tour, working with internationally-acclaimed soloists, faculty, and conductors.”
