I specialize in teaching jazz, music theory, improvisation, technique, and playing by ear. My goal is to free my students from relying on sheet music and to give them the skills they need to be able to express themselves through music. I received my Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Florida State University where I studied and performed regularly with the likes of Nick Finzer, Scotty Barnhart
, Marcus Roberts and more. I then moved to NYC to study the Taubman Approach to Piano Technique with Edna Golandsky of the Golandsky Institute for 2 years. I've been fortunate to have performed at many notable venues including "Jazz at Lincoln Center" in NYC, The Velvet Note, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival. I've also worked as a jazz pianist at Disneyland in California, as an orchestra and jazz band instructor, and as a private lessons teacher in NYC and Atlanta. Now, I teach via Zoom to people all over the world. No matter the location, as long as there is internet and a piano, I can help anyone reach their full musical potential. My online lessons are convenient and the setup is simple! Due to training my ears since the age of 4, I've developed the ability to know every note played during a lesson just by hearing it. This means that my students don't need to provide multiple camera angles or anything inconvenient unless we're working specifically on technique. Enough about me — I'd love to learn about you!
