: Welcome to KB’s Plant Shop! kindergarteners opened a plant shop earlier this month as a part of their project-based learning unit on plants. They used their math skills to “collect money” (unifix cubes), the writing skills to write out receipts and create informational books for the “waiting table,” and their science skills to grow plants and create instructions for growing. In addition, they learned responsibility by having assigned jobs and cooperation as they worked together to help costumers. 🌱

celebrated yesterday with a morning filled with math! Middle school students rotated between stations led by TCS faculty and staff, including Head of School Roz and members from our business office. Of course, it’s not Pi Day without pie! Thank you to all of the families who donated desserts for the special day. 🥧

7th graders have become the teachers! They’ve created giant-sized versions of a nucleus, chloroplast, cell wall and cell membrane and displayed them in their hallway to teach everyone in our community about these parts and how they’re formed.

February was festive at ! At the end of last month, we celebrated Black History Month, the month’s BCC trait (cooperation), and much more during our school-wide assembly.

Students reflected on last month’s assembly dedicated to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Lower School created a Peace Tree while Upper School focused on their life blueprint, as shared by Dr. King, to write a poem, song or other creative response.

Happy Chinese New Year! celebrated yesterday during an assembly with Atlanta Chinese Dance Company. We learned more about the history and culture of China and saw dances from several of the 56 different Chinese ethnic groups.

second graders are studying weather and climate for their PBL unit this semester. Through the driving question: “How can I teach others about climate change and how to take care of the environment?,” students are learning why seasons change, researching different types of climates and habitats, comparing and contrasting climate and weather, and then creating interactive dioramas that include the habitat’s plants, animals, threats to the habitat, and how people can help the environment! 🌍 ⛅ 🌱

SHINE (Self-confidence, Health Education, Independence, Networking, Empowerment), is the newest Middle Grades club. Led by D'uana and Upper School Director of Student Life Tara Beverly, the girls in SHINE are discovering the tools to boost their self-confidence, gain valuable health education, cultivate independence, build essential networking skills, and experience a holistic empowerment that propels them toward a bright and successful future.

Club member Vivi '26 hopes "to gain more self confidence and independence" through the club.

: 3’s/4’s students are exploring what makes them who they are by creating self portraits. Each day, they kick off the morning by walking up to the classroom mirror and reciting daily affirmations to themselves by saying things like, “I am AMAZING!” Or, “I am going to have a great day!” 💕

student-athletes wrapped up an amazing season this week. Here are just a few of the highlights:

🐾 MAAC Girls Basketball 🐾 The team showed fast break speed, tough defense and rebounding, and could run up the score quickly with fast dribbling and accurate passing

🐾 MAAC Boys Basketball 🐾 The team showed up strong with excellent rebounding, scoring and depth.

🐾 Intramural Tennis 🐾 22 student-athletes learned to hit serves, ground strokes and approach shots and volleys.

🐾 Intramural Ultimate Frisbee 🐾 The team learned to execute all of the throws and were introduced to spacing and strategy.

eighth graders are studying Newton's Laws of Motion by learning the impacts of gravitational energy and that energy is not created, but transferred.

Last week, they designed ramps out of cardboard and used toy cars to study the effects of time, gravity, distance and mass to determine potential energy based on the weight of the object!

: As a part of their anti-bias education, first graders explored skin color by using pipettes, cups of milk, and cups of strawberry, caramel, and chocolate syrup to create their very own skin color “recipe.”

While learning more about themselves and others, they also built their math skills by tallying each droplet of ingredient and then their writing skills to write out their unique recipe.
