We kick off decimals this week, and I couldn’t resist tying our work into the Super Bowl. This activity is a fun, real-world way for students to represent, compare, round, and add & subtract decimals — all through football-themed scenarios that actually make the math feel relevant.
Perfect for 5th grade during Super Bowl week (or even the Monday after), this resource gives students meaningful practice with:
• representing decimals
• comparing decimals
• rounding decimals
• adding decimals
• subtracting decimals
• real-world decimal problem solving
If you’re looking for something engaging that still hits the standards while leaning into the Super Bowl excitement, this one always delivers.
If you’d like to grab it for your class, just drop a comment with 🏈 or link, and I’ll send it your way!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Eckers! 🤎
We have so much to be grateful for in the year and all year long. But what we may be most grateful for this Thanksgiving the the addition of our new puppy, Onyx, to our family! He’s the perfect fit and we love him so much!
We wish everyone a day of peace, love, and gratitude today! 🤍

Glow in the Dark math for Halloween! 🌟
I love these kinds of days because they give us an opportunity to get tons of practice with our current skills that we can’t get in a typical lesson-based or task-based day. There’s no other way I could convince my 3rd and 5th graders to willingly practice multiplication and division for 50 minutes straight.
Transformations look really different in my classroom now that I’m no longer a tranditional classroom teacher. Teaching four different leveled classes, and back to back, I need transformations to work for all grades and all levels without much variation.
Yestday, I made expressions and word problems for 3rd and 5th grade (who are luckily working on some skills). 5th had green neon tape and 3rd had orange neon tape. Other than that, same recording sheet and directions throughout to keep things simple.
It was probably my calmest non-traditional day and great way to end the week!

After THREE full days of end of quarter assessments, we deserved to unwind with some math crafts!
Third grade made the cutest distributive property aliens. 👽 I got the idea from when I taught 3rd grade in 2018ish and decided to pull this out of the archive. They are so freaking cute!
Fifth grade made problem solving pumpkins to review multiplication before our unit begins after fall break. They’ll be used for our fall door decor.
If I had it my ways, we’d be crafting in class every week
