July 26, 2020. I was working in the kitchen, and I noticed this little friend hunting on my back porch. Could this be one of the progeny I released in early May? I sure hope so!!! 😻

Yay! πŸ₯³
Lots & lots of baby praying mantises joined the family today!
For about 6 weeks, We’ve been patiently waiting for our egg sack (ootheca) to produce nymphs (baby mantises). We didn’t keep any nymphs to observe indoors, but we safely released all of our new hatchlings into the garden where they can eat all of the soft-bodies insects (like aphids or small flies) and grow into strong adults.

🌎 πŸ’• It’s the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, and it’s going to be beautiful outside (here in Atlanta!).

πŸ• If you can’t make it into the woods for a long hike, try taking a 1-foot hike in your own yard! You’ll be amazed at what your little naturalist will discover.

Take a One-Foot Hike If you want to try something different from your normal outdoor activity routine, then I suggest taking a 1-foot hike!
