Miriam Udel, associate professor at Emory College of Arts and Sciences and director of the Tam Institute for Jewish Studies, won a National Jewish Book Award for her book, “Modern Jewish Worldmaking through Yiddish Children’s Literature.” Her research into the Yiddish language, literature, and culture reveals how writings with a common user base helped Jewish people imagine their future.
