Welcome to Biscuit’s Buddies, where we’ll spotlight The Day School educators and staff, starting with our administrative team!

Ms. Rhonda has been the director of The Day School since 2021. A career change 20 years ago brought her into education, where she has served children and their families in a variety of roles. She has a deep love for children and is truly committed to being a lifelong learner. Ms. Rhonda brings a calm presence to every interaction, whether with children, educators, or families. She is steady and thoughtful in her leadership and is continuously reflecting on The Day School’s growth and service to the community.

Ms. Cole has been a part of The Day School since 2006 and has served in multiple roles, making her way from classroom educator to the Administrator for School Operations and Enrichment Programs. She helps ensure our school systems run smoothly, connects Day School operations to Enrichment Programs, and consistently makes sure every child is safe and where they’re supposed to be. Her ability to uphold expectations and follow through on decisions helps keep our programs running smoothly.

We’re so grateful for the dedication, leadership, and care these two bring to The Day School community each day!

While transitioning on the grounds, the children in the Girasol classroom noticed Grace, our studio educator, harvesting carrots from our community gardens. This simple moment sparked questions and thinking around the garden, what grows within it, and what comes from it.

Grace then offered the freshly harvested carrots to the class, inviting the children into a deeper exploration. With magnifying glasses, observation drawings, and a taste test, the children engaged their senses as they wondered, observed, and connected with the natural world around them.

A beautiful reminder of how moments of discovery can unfold when we slow down, notice, and follow the children’s curiosity. 🥕🌱

This morning Saint Anne’s families came together to kick off a wonderful new school year at our first Parent Chat! We welcomed both new and returning families for a lovely morning filled with conversation, connection, and community. What a wonderful way to begin another year together!

🌱 Nesting Room’s first thread of the year! 🍅

On the first day of school, the Nesting Room students took a visit to the class garden beds that Nesting room students planted last spring. As they explored, the garden sparked conversations about the connections between living things, gardens, and the food we eat. Tomatoes were harvested and brought inside for investigation!

With magnifying glasses in hand, children closely observed the tomatoes, noticing their colors, sizes, and varieties. They expressed that while tomatoes are often pictured as bright red, the tomatoes growing in our garden were orange, yellow, and green! These observations opened the door to conversations about similarities and differences.

Educators then posed the question: “How can tomatoes be prepared?” Children were invited to explore through a taste test featuring fresh tomatoes, pasta sauce, tomato soup, and salsa. As they tasted, they discovered more about their senses, shared observations, and how our personal preferences can be wonderfully different.

What an incredible start to the 2026–27 school year. We can’t wait to see where the children’s questions, ideas, and discoveries take us.

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! We had an incredible first day here at the Day School. The hallways and classrooms were filled with smiles, imagination, curiosity, and joy. We are so excited for the year ahead!

Two special days of Parent Chats & Welcome Visits have us feeling all the excitement of a new school year! It has been such a joy watching children and families explore their classrooms, reconnect with familiar faces, and begin getting ready for all the learning, laughter, and adventures ahead.

And now, the big day is almost here! Tomorrow marks the first day for our 3-Day and 5-Day children! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and officially kick off the 2026–2027 school year!

Pre-Planning Week 2 is off to a productive and meaningful start! Our educators and staff have come together to focus on our shared purposes and how our daily practices reflect those purposes throughout the school and community.

Our work has featured Environment & Documentation Walks, the creation of Curriculum Webs and Planning Tools, roundtable discussions with partnering specialists, and so many more intentional dialogues. The educators continue to collaborate as classroom, age-level, and school-wide teams to apply their takeaways to every part of the child’s experience.

With positive mindsets and open hearts, we cannot wait to welcome the children back for what is shaping up to be an incredible year!
