And number 8 is out the door. Hard to catch our builders last week due to awards, parties, etc but I was able to steal a couple fifth graders to solve a few last minute issues with the controls. This one has a control pad for the child, a smaller one the parents can use, a control selector switch, a reverse cutout, speed control and alignment control. Thanks to everyone who donated and helped us make these vehicles possible.

Over the past six years the fifth graders at Bill Arp Elementary have modified six ride-on toys into mobility devices for differently abled children through the Go-Baby-Go organization. This has been a wonderful experience for both the recipients of the vehicles and our student engineers. Due to the generosity of several people donating materials and funds we currently have three gently used “Wild Things” and all the equipment we need to turn them into custom mobility devices. We can tailor the seating, controls, and style to fit the driver. The vehicles work well for children under 75 pounds and under 48” tall whose physical or cognitive condition limits their ability to move or operate a traditional ride-on vehicle. Our fifth grade engineers are looking for three children, or educational programs who could benifit from the use of one of our vehicles. If you know someone or if your child or program would like us to design one of these three vehicles for you, contact Mr. Nauman here or at [email protected]

Our second graders have been working on a Gilligan’s island challenge. They used materials to build a wind powered boat to save their seven castaways.

Students are back in the STEAM lab! Today we were trying to observe a robot’s actions and write the code that made it happen.

Had to share a couple of pictures I found interesting this week. One is a picture taken by NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter on Mars. If you look in the far right background , the helicopter caught the perseverance river in this shot. The other was a picture Mr. Carruth shared with me of the moment the Starship launched on the Super Heavy booster from Boca Chica Texas this week.
