“I can’t wait for them to come back!” 😍

One of our students was heard telling her teacher this after spending recess with Heritage Preparatory School.

THIS is what we mean when we say children sometimes don’t understand the impact of a donor’s dollars, but they feel it every single time when they get to connect with you.

(This doesn’t mean stop giving! Just because our students may not get it doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t. 😄)

Thank you to Heritage Preparatory School students, staff, and parents for stopping by campus to wash our vans, staff cars, clean up our container garden, and hang out on the playground.

What a beautiful time. We are so grateful and can’t wait to do it again next year! ♥️

What a beautiful, packed first two weeks of school!
✨ Here is a look at how we are building community at Peace Prep this year:
🛡️ Three Houses, One Family: Our scholars were officially sorted into our new House System—Zuberi (Strength), Nia (Purpose), and Amani (Peace)! The friendly competition, mentorship, and school spirit are already unmatched. 😆

🙏🏽 First Chapel: We kicked off our first chapel of the year with a powerful message on courage (our virtue of the month!) from one of our board members Charles Sharper.

🤝 Whole Community: We also hosted our Open House, welcoming incredible local organizations who share our heart for this neighborhood. Because at Peace Prep, we know that raising up Christ-centered leaders takes a whole, united community.

Here’s to week 3! 🎉

New. Refreshing. Like a cloud has been lifted.

That’s what the first day of school felt like.

When our principal, Dr. Hall Marie S Boatwright introduced this year’s theme of Rooted In Community - Anchored in Hope to our students during Hallway Huddle, she asked what it means to be rooted…

One of their answers was, “when you plant something in the ground and it stays steady.”

We couldn’t have gotten to such a beautiful day one and we can’t wait in joyful expectation for what God will do this year without Christ and the community that keeps us steady.

Over the last week we have seen you all show up in the biggest ways.

Our email list, volunteers and supporters for praying with and for us.

Abrm for leading our time of prayer with such an “on time” message.

And then All Souls Fellowship Rise Again Ministries Mount Paran Church Grace Midtown Church Northside Church Redeemer Community Church Trinity Anglican Church for making sure we had EVERYTHING necessary to start from CPR training for staff to snacks to student backpacks and supplies.

We are forever grateful that you all make up the community we’re rooted in and that we’re all anchored in the same Hope.

🤩 Just a few moments from our end of the year celebrations.

It’s hard to believe in less than a month we’ll welcome a new class of Kindergarteners and do it all again. 🍎

What a privilege it is to be anchored here, in English Avenue. A place with a history where people thrived, where people struggled, but where the dignity of families has never been lost.

The neighbors who’ve called this place home for decades… The ones choosing to call it home now.

In the same way our people make Peace Preparatory Academy special, the people who carry this neighborhood’s legacy make English Avenue special. We are all here together, making sure the right story gets told.

We’re choosing to build here, in a place that’s faced 40-60% vacancy, cycles of drug trafficking and disinvestment because we know of the beauty that undergirds these challenges.

We’re grateful for partners like OaksATL, bringing dignity through housing; Our faithful and consistent church partners Grace Midtown Church Trinity Anglican Church Northside Church All Souls Fellowship whose hearts for the 30318 are palpable.

We’re grateful for every volunteer, organization, and neighbor whose hands and hearts show up alongside. Whether the work is seen, or quiet, it’s felt.

We have a long way to go, but each day we’re all here making English Avenue a place its children and families will love to call home.

Loving and caring for our families and communities didn’t stop on the last day of school.

Thanks to Rent Due and their partnerships, and Trinity Anglican Church we’re able to still provide food and snacks for every family.
