There are so many math tutors everywhere!!! Are they qualified to teach???
I constantly come across ads for great math tutors!!! They advertise themselves as being MIT or Harvard graduates, high school students who are taking college level math courses, engineering students, or just people that are good at Math! They even charge you a minimal fee!!!
Have you ever asked yourself why teachers spend 4+ years at College as well as numerous hours each year on continued professional development classes??
Itās not just about standing in a classroom instructing students on the latest concepts, making up tests and then grading them.
Itās about:
ā¢Using all the strategies you have learned from a reputable college of education, to make sure that each and every one of your students achieve success.
ā¢Really knowing who your students are and how they learn.
ā¢Implementing best practices to ensure that they achieve their potential.
ā¢Using what youāve learned about the psychology of how children/adolescents respond to different types of pedagogical methods.
⢠How you talk to students to make them feel like taking risks when they learn, instead of feeling threatened or embarrassed when they answer a question.
ā¢Using language students can understand, when explain concepts.
ITāS HOW YOU ARE TAUGHT THAT COUNTS!! Results guaranteed!!!

Welcome āback to school!ā These are really difficult times for students, teachers and parents. Unfortunately, it is what it is. šŖLetās make the most of this situation.
How parents can help:
1. Make sure your children are fully prepared by having the following tools handy:
* Writing materials
* Calculator
* Notebook
* Index cards
2. Make sure they stand up and stretch between classes. Sitting for too long is unhealthy for everyone.
3. Have a 2nd means of communication ready. Technology is amazing but unforeseen glitches and power outages occur.
How students can help:
1. Be prepared with everything above.
2. Have text books and all other school references near by, so you can show me what youāre learning.
3. Communicate with teachers regularly.
4. Be assertive when it comes to your needs.
5. Take risks
6. YOU GOT THIS!
We, as teachers/tutors are doing our best under these circumstances. We will all get through this!!! Communicate, communicate!
Wishing you all a successful, safe school year, filled with possibilities!
Hi All
I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Phyllis Gillman and Iām a Georgia certified math teacher/tutor. I have taught in schools for 15 years and tutored for 25 years- grades 4- 10 ( including Algebra, geometry and Algebra 2)
I believe that every child learns at their own pace and through different methods of teaching. I use different strategies to make sure that students are successful at Math and learn to love it.
I usually tutor one on one online but am now incorporating ONLINE group teaching- 3 students max, per session, as long as they are learning the same concept.
Iād love to hear from you.š

I saw this and love it! Keeps your mind working! Can you figure it out?
Dear Friends,
A new chapter in public education has begun. There is a huge learning curve that students, teachers and families are navigating together!
As we continue to embark on āDistance Learning,ā I am asking my Facebook friends to refrain from publicly scrutinizing their childrensā teachers/schools/districts for the way they are teaching or the lessons they are assigning.
Please offer grace to your childās teacher and other school personnel. I promise that educating your children is still a top priority. If you have questions or concerns, the best route is direct communication with the teacher. And if you think things are going well, please communicate that, too!
Teachers are navigating unchartered waters with little to no prep time. They love our kids and will be doing their absolute best!
Please copy & paste if you are a teacher ... or if you support teachers.
And educators, YOUāVE GOT THIS! We believe in you!

Dear Parents
Please be advised that one school system has already closed for a few days due to the increase of cold, flu and other viruses.
Let the kiddos rest at home if they donāt feel well and please let me know as well so we can all stay healthy. Love my students!š„°š„°š„°
Thanks!š
