A partnership built on 10 years of showing up for our students and families.

For the past 10 years, Shallowford Presbyterian Church has been a steadfast partner of LaAmistad, providing far more than a space for our programs. From laptops and program funding to transportation for our students, Shallowford has continually stepped in to help meet the needs of our community.

Their support has also extended beyond the classroom. During the pandemic and again this past year, Shallowford helped provide essential food support to LaAmistad families through its food pantry and monthly grocery bags.

At the heart of this partnership are the volunteers who consistently give their time, talents, and care to our students. Their commitment can be seen in countless ways, including one volunteer who is currently using his own free time to build a storage closet for our program supplies.

Shallowford’s proximity to St. Pius X Catholic High School has also helped create another meaningful connection for LaAmistad Afterschool. St. Pius students have volunteered with our Shallowford students and shared those experiences with their own families. One parent was so moved by the rewarding experiences his children had volunteering with LaAmistad that he joined our Board this year.

We are incredibly grateful to Shallowford Presbyterian Church for 10 years of partnership and for continuing to invest in our students, families, and community. ❤️💛

Una temporada llena de historias, aprendizaje, cafecitos y momentos especiales compartidos. 📚☕❤️

Celebramos el cierre de otra maravillosa temporada de Libritos y Cafecitos, el programa de LaAmistad que promueve la lectura desde los primeros años y fortalece la participación de los padres en el aprendizaje de sus hijos.

Esta temporada, 11 mamás y 14 niños de 0 a 5 años compartieron momentos de lectura, manualidades y actividades de lectoescritura temprana. A través de libros como The Sheep Go on an Adventure y The Turtle Goes to the Water, las familias descubrieron nuevas maneras de hacer de la lectura una experiencia divertida e interactiva.

Los padres también pusieron en práctica estrategias de LaAmistad Birth to Five que pueden continuar utilizando en casa para apoyar el aprendizaje de sus hijos y fortalecer sus vínculos a través de la lectura. 📖✨

From school supplies to valuable resources, every moment was a reminder that when a community comes together, our students have even more opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.

🎨✨ Sometimes, expressing how we feel doesn’t begin with words. It begins with a paintbrush, a color, or an idea.

Thanks to the support of the Georgia Council for the Arts and our partnership with PaintLove, LaAmistad students have the opportunity to explore their emotions, strengthen social-emotional skills, and express themselves through art. ❤️💛

Throughout the school year, PaintLove visits every LaAmistad location at least once, and also joins us during ¡Anímate! Summer Academy. Through these workshops, students create art as a form of emotional expression, giving them a creative space to explore and communicate their feelings. 🖌️🌟

Because learning also means discovering new ways to understand ourselves and express who we are.
