Edward R. Murrow (1908-1965) is best known as a CBS broadcaster and producer during the formative years of U.S. radio and television news programs from the 1930s to the 1950s, when radio still dominated the airwaves although television was beginning to make its indelible mark, particularly in the US. Over the decades, numerous publications have portrayed Murrow as one of the architects of U.S. broadcast news, but in the political climate of recent years, he is increasingly viewed as a defender of rights against McCarthy-type witch hunts.

The painful reality of growth. Growth isn’t glamorous, it’s a process of stretching, breaking, and letting go. It comes at a cost - our comfort, mindset, and even relationships. But the Bible says we should consider it pure joy when facing trials, because the testing of our faith produces perseverance. We have to go through this process to become mature and complete. The pain has a purpose - God is pruning and shaping us for what’s next. The question is, are we willing to endure the discomfort for the destiny? Growth hurts, but staying stuck hurts worse. We have to trust that the pain is part of the preparation.
