Big milestones start early. 🎓✨

Last week, we were proud to celebrate 5th-grade moving-on day at G. W. Northcutt Elementary School (Clayton County Public Schools), recognizing students as they prepare to take their next step into middle school.

These students are part of the CIS Atlanta program at Northcutt, and are supported by Andre Malone, CIS Atlanta Site Coordinator, who shows up consistently to build relationships and support students through key moments of growth.

At Communities In Schools of Atlanta, we believe transitions matter—and we’re honored to walk alongside students as they grow, progress, and move forward with confidence. 💙

"Celebrating growth, resilience, and the power of relationships. 🎓✨

This past week, we celebrated 8th grade graduation at Sylvan Hills Middle School (Atlanta Public Schools)—a milestone moment for students who have grown in confidence, leadership, and determination.

As CIS Atlanta Site Coordinator Kamilah Alexandre shared the relationships built this year have been a true reflection of the work we do at Communities In Schools:

“These students trusted me to support them not only personally, but throughout their journey toward growth and success. Watching them exceed their goals in attendance, behavior, and academics has been incredibly rewarding.”

🙌 We’re so proud of Jayla, Paris, Kyasia, Jazmyne, and Elyse, and grateful to be part of their journey as they prepare for what’s next.

Moments like this remind us why being present matters—every single day. ❤️

The future is bright at Cross Keys High School (DeKalb County School District) 🎓✨

DeKalb County graduated more than 300 students from Cross Keys High School, approximately 30 of whom are CIS of Atlanta students. We couldn’t be more proud of everything this incredible class has accomplished.

These photos feature just a few of the amazing graduates we’re celebrating who will be attending:
💛 Georgia State University
💛 Oglethorpe University
💛 Kennesaw State University

Their success represents the determination, resilience, and potential we see in students across Atlanta every day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to invest in student success and help create brighter futures for the next generation.

Strong schools are built on strong partnerships. 💪

We’re proud to celebrate Shaunya Reeves, CIS Atlanta Site Coordinator at Hollis Innovation Academy, who was recently recognized at the school’s Partnership Luncheon for her outstanding work and commitment to students.

Shaunya has been part of the CIS Atlanta family for more than three years, showing up every day to build relationships, support scholars, and strengthen the connection between school and community. Her work—alongside Hollis leadership—reflects what’s possible when schools and partners move forward together with shared purpose.

Thank you to Dr. Shakir, Principal of Hollis Innovation Academy, for this meaningful recognition — and thank you, Shaunya, for the impact you continue to make for students and families.

Celebrating excellence, leadership, and what’s ahead! 🙌⭐️

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Litzy Sanchez, one of CIS Atlanta’s all‑star students, who was recently selected as a 2026 QuestBridge College Prep Scholar.

🏫 As Litzy enters her senior year, this recognition opens the door for her to compete for full four‑year scholarships to some of the nation’s most selective colleges and universities through QuestBridge’s National College Match program.

Many in our community know Litzy not only for her academic excellence, but for her leadership—including serving as a student emcee at this year’s Choose Success Gala, where she shared her story and the impact of CIS with philanthropic and business leaders.

💙 Litzy’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when students are surrounded with the right support, encouragement, and opportunity. We are so proud of you and excited for all that’s ahead.

From CIS alum to Georgia Tech graduate. 🎓🎉

We’re celebrating Justin Ayiih, a proud CIS Atlanta alum, who graduated from Georgia Tech on May 7 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Justin’s journey reflects what’s possible when students are supported, believed in, and given the space to grow. As the first person in his immediate family to earn a college degree, this milestone represents years of hard work, perseverance, and community support. 💛

Justin is also part of the CIS Atlanta family today—working with us as a part‑time IT Technician since 2024—and we’re excited to share that he’ll be continuing his journey this summer as a Data Analyst Intern with the Betty & Davis Fitzgerald Foundation through Partnership for Innovation.

🌟 We’re incredibly proud of you, Justin. Your story is exactly why we do this work.

Showing up for leadership, dialogue, and our alumni.

Communities In Schools of Atlanta was proud to serve as an event sponsor for The Atlanta Press Club Newsmaker Leadership Event, where our President & CEO, Frank Brown, delivered opening remarks to a sold‑out audience, highlighting the impact of our work across Atlanta.

We were also honored to attend alongside CIS Atlanta staff, board member Denise Bethea, PMP, and CIS alumni Todd Poe Jr. and Mi’Qyra Galimore—rising juniors at Morehouse College and Clayton State University and emerging leaders who continue to represent the very best of our alumni community.

Creating opportunities for students and alumni to engage in spaces like this reflects our commitment to surrounding young people with access, relationships, and experiences that help shape their futures.

Two weeks ago, Communities In Schools of Atlanta proudly celebrated 110 graduating seniors during our annual IGNITE Alumni Induction Ceremony as they officially joined the CIS of Atlanta Alumni Association.

This incredible group of students earned nearly 400 college acceptances and more than $1.8 million in scholarship offers. As they take their next steps, 96 students will attend college, 4 students will enter the workforce, and 10 students will proudly serve in the military.

A special thank you to Communities In Schools and Whataburger for helping us celebrate and support the future of our students. Because of partnerships like these, our students are stepping confidently into their next chapter knowing they have a community behind them.

Congratulations to the CIS Atlanta MADE Class of 2026 ❤️💙💚🧡
