✏️ When our community shows up for students, it makes a difference.

This summer, Communities In Schools of Atlanta was proud to partner with Burr & Forman for its annual Back-to-School Supply Drive. Thanks to the generosity of employees across the firm’s offices, 16 boxes of essential school supplies were collected to support students and schools across Metro Atlanta.

From backpacks and notebooks to writing supplies and refillable water bottles, these donations help remove barriers and ensure students have the resources they need to start the school year ready to learn, grow, and succeed.

The supplies were distributed to CIS of Atlanta staff during pre-service activities, equipping our Site Coordinators with additional resources to support students and families throughout the year.

We’re grateful to Burr & Forman and its employees for investing in Atlanta’s students and showing what’s possible when a community comes together around student success. 💙

September is Attendance Awareness Month!

Here in Atlanta, every day in school is another opportunity for a student to learn, connect, grow, and move closer to the future they envision.

But getting to school every day isn’t always as simple as it sounds. Transportation, health, family responsibilities, and other challenges can stand in the way. This summer, Communities In Schools® of Atlanta alumnus Justin completed a 10-week Data Analyst Internship with the Betty & Davis Fitzgerald Foundation through the Partnership for Innovation program.

Justin put his skills to work on a major research project exploring mental health services and educational resources across 21 Georgia counties. Using publicly available data, he built a comprehensive database and interactive dashboard to help inform future funding decisions.

And the impact didn’t stop there. As part of a collaborative intern cohort, Justin helped assess community needs and funding opportunities, ultimately helping select two organizations to receive a combined $25,000 in grant funding.

We’re proud to see Justin continuing to learn, lead, and use his talents to strengthen communities. Because student success doesn’t end at graduation, it’s about empowering young people to define their future and make an impact long after they leave the classroom.

On Aug. 7, Atlanta Public Schools hosted a press conference featuring Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. We were proud to have Communities In Schools of Atlanta CEO Frank Brown represented alongside Fickett Elementary’s Jr. Esquires. 💙

🎉 What a way to kick off the new school year!

From Ralph Bunche Middle School to Usher-Collier Elementary School, Communities In Schools of Atlanta Site Coordinators had the opportunity to connect with students, families, and school staff during Open House and the energy was incredible.

At Bunche Middle, our team shared how CIS helps remove barriers so students can thrive in and beyond the classroom. At Usher-Collier, families and staff brought so much joy and excitement for the year ahead.

These moments are a reminder that Being Present Matters. When caring adults, families, schools, and communities come together, students have a stronger network of support around them.

Big opportunities begin with believing in what's possible.

We're proud to celebrate Cristina from Morrow High School and Azariah from Mt. Zion High School, who are participating in this year's Global Youth Leadership Academy (GYLA) in Portugal!

Through this immersive leadership program, students strengthen their leadership and communication skills, expand their global perspective, and connect with peers from around the world. Experiences like these help students grow in confidence and discover new possibilities for their future.

At Communities In Schools, we believe every student deserves access to opportunities that help them realize their potential, in school and beyond. We're excited to see Cristina and Azariah representing their schools and embracing this incredible experience.
