Ajani’s Arts & Crafts
Ajani’s Arts & Crafts creates art kits for people of color. We give Black and brown people a creative outlet to express themselves through art.
Ajani’s Arts & Crafts creates arts kits for children of color. Our art kits allow Black and brown children to create art that looks like them. Our art kits include “skin tone” colors. “Skin tone” colors are colors that represent our different shades of black. The colors allow children to see themselves reflected in the art they create. The We Wear the Mask Art Kit is our first kit. And is inspired by the poem, “We Wear the Mask”, by Paul Lawrence Dunbar. In the poem Dunbar describes how we often wear “masks” to hide our pain from the world. The art kit includes two printed art sheets. On one sheet, you write, draw, or color the person you present to the world. On the other sheet you put down who you really are, or want to become. It’s an engaging project that allows children to be creative. And learn about themselves. (Adults will enjoy it too!) If you’re looking for an engaging Summer activity to distract your kids from their phones or video games, please visit our website to get yours now.
