Alternative Breaks – The Volunteer Emory Alternative Break program organizes international, regional, and local service trips to create meaningful student development experiences, meeting the needs identified b

y agency partners over the fall, winter, and spring breaks at Emory.

Atlanta Urban Debate League – The AUDL provides debate and speech education to diverse students, educators, and the community by teaching, empowering, and equipping them with skills necessary to make a profound impact in the world. No debate experience required!

Community Building Fellows – The CBSC Fellows Program is an intense year-long program for undergraduates at Emory. Fellows take 9 course credits and complete a summer field practicum.

Graduation Generation – Grad Gen aims to increase the academic success of metro Atlanta K-12 students, connecting Emory students with hands-on experience in the area of education.

Project SHINE – A service-learning initiative that links Emory students with the greater Atlanta community’s new Americans. SHINE volunteers engage in community-based educational programs.

Volunteer Emory – VE collaborates with agents of change for service projects and social justice work that promote learning about self and society. VE is student-led and offers students community engagement opportunities.

Our Community Building and Social Change Fellows Emory CBSC Fellows Program recently returned from an impactful 3-day site visit to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Our fellows had an amazing time, having meaningful conversations with local leaders and visiting innovative community organizations shared below:

📍La Paz: Fellows explored and got to learn how to create a safe spaces and economic opportunities for the Latino and Hispanic community in Southeast Tennessee.

📍City of Chattanooga: Fellows got to meet with Major Tim Kelly and learn about values-based community leadership.

📍Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprises: Fellows gained an experienced of community-responsive work and witnessed what affordable housing development firsthand looks like.

📍CALEB: CALEB is a coalition based organization that leads community organizing around pressing issues in Chattanooga. Our fellows loved their session with Organizing Director, Michael Gilliland.

If this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, CBSC welcomes you! The entry point in exploring the fellowship is a course offered in the fall (370A POLS/SOC/ENVS/CBSC) .
