One of my favorite moments during a tasting is when someone realizes they can actually connect a flavor in the glass to something that happened long before the whiskey was bottled.
Maybe it’s the grain.
Maybe it’s the climate where it aged.
Maybe it’s a secondary barrel that added another layer of character.
Most people start by identifying flavors. Over time, they start asking where those flavors came from.
That’s when whiskey gets really interesting.
It’s also why I enjoy creating tastings that go beyond what’s in the glass and explore the stories behind it.

The loss of another local distillery is concerning. A tough road lies ahead.
Popular vodka and whiskey brand files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy The award-winning distillery files for bankruptcy to reorganize its business.
About an hour outside Atlanta, there’s a farm doing things a little differently.
During our recent visit to Doc Brown Farm & Distillers we spent an afternoon learning more about how their whiskey comes together, from Jimmy Red corn and healthier soil to the salty and sweet effects of coastal aging.
It was such a great reminder that sometimes the most interesting (and delicious!) whiskey doesn’t come from the biggest names.
Big thanks to Amy, Paige, Daniel, and fellow Executive Bourbon Steward Tosha Mobley for the hospitality. We’ll see ya out on the farm again soon! 🥃🌽 🌾

Even with the pollen doing its worst, the evenings are too good to waste inside.
Around here, porches aren’t optional. And even if you don’t have one, a couple chairs out front will do just fine.
In parts of Georgia, porch ceilings are painted haint blue — a color meant to keep the bad out and let the good stay awhile.
Whether you believe that or not, there’s something about the porch that slows everything down.
You sit. You pour something worth sipping. And the evening comes to you. 🥃🌿
Easy to make. Easy to enjoy. Exactly what this time of year calls for.

Some bottles deserve a little more space at the table.
That’s the idea behind The Stash Reserve — a premium tasting experience built around distinctive cask finishes, allocated releases, and bottles you don’t often see gathered in one place.
Each Reserve tasting evolves depending on what I’m able to source, but the goal stays the same:
A lineup that sparks conversation.
Sometimes it’s:
“I’ve never tasted anything like this.”
Other times it’s:
“I’ve been wanting to try this bottle for years.”
Or simply:
“Okay… that might be my new favorite.”
You know, the kind of experience that unfolds sip by sip — and stays with you long after the last glass is set down.
🥃 If you’re planning a tasting this spring, The Stash Reserve might be the perfect fit.
Send me a message and I’ll share what’s currently in the lineup.

Just in time for the holidays.
Wrapped 2025 is live. I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who played a role, whether you attended a tasting, partnered on an event, or shared a recommendation with a friend. What a year it’s been, and I can’t wait to see where the next one takes us.
Every good gathering needs a soundtrack. We put together a holiday playlist for exactly that — a little soul, a little warmth, something to keep the vibe right while you’re gathered around the table.
Find the playlist at the link in our bio and let the season begin.
