A Teacher Appreciation Week love letter to the educators ❤️
Fifteen years across every grade level taught me that the work isn’t really in the lesson plans. It’s in everything that happens around them. It’s the colleagues who become chosen family, the ones you text on snow days and find in the copy room when you need a minute to breathe. It’s the passing-period chats and the Friday afternoon energy when you’ve all made it through another week, and the librarians and teachers who pass the torch without ever asking for credit. It’s the kid who finally gets it, and the kid who just needed someone to notice. And then there are the students who shape who you are, and never stop — they stay with you, in every room you walk into long after they leave yours.
The work is also in the 7am parking lot conversations, the handwritten note in your mailbox on a hard day, the colleague who covered your class without making a thing of it, the student who came back years later just to say thank you. None of it shows up on paper. All of it is the work.
To everyone showing up for kids this week, in any role, in any season of this profession: I see you, and I’m grateful for you. You have changed lives. You are still changing them.
Once an educator, always an educator.
