A Teacher Appreciation Week love letter to the educators ❤️

Fifteen years across every grade level taught me that the work isn’t really in the lesson plans. It’s in everything that happens around them. It’s the colleagues who become chosen family, the ones you text on snow days and find in the copy room when you need a minute to breathe. It’s the passing-period chats and the Friday afternoon energy when you’ve all made it through another week, and the librarians and teachers who pass the torch without ever asking for credit. It’s the kid who finally gets it, and the kid who just needed someone to notice. And then there are the students who shape who you are, and never stop — they stay with you, in every room you walk into long after they leave yours.

The work is also in the 7am parking lot conversations, the handwritten note in your mailbox on a hard day, the colleague who covered your class without making a thing of it, the student who came back years later just to say thank you. None of it shows up on paper. All of it is the work.

To everyone showing up for kids this week, in any role, in any season of this profession: I see you, and I’m grateful for you. You have changed lives. You are still changing them.

Once an educator, always an educator.

The April Creative Pulse just dropped and wow, this month is packed! A 24-hour global Create-a-Thon. School Library Month. A creative challenge that has students mashing lemons with balloons (you’ll see). Deadlines. Spotlights. Community moments that remind us we’re not alone doing the work.

This is your quick audio catch-up from the ACE Leader newsletter — made for the educator who’s too busy to read but still wants to stay connected. We see you. 💛

This reel is a few years old but the message hasn’t changed one bit. School librarians are STILL the heartbeat of every school they serve. I may not be in a school library anymore, but I will forever be a librarian at my core and I will never stop shouting from the rooftops about what these incredible humans do every single day.

April is School Library Month, so let me say this loud for the people in the back: If you have a school librarian, you have a co-teacher, a tech coach, a reading mentor, a safe space builder, a makerspace facilitator, and the one person in the building who knows every kid’s name. ALL of that in one role.

Teachers, your librarian is your secret weapon. Walk down the hall this week and tell them you see them. Better yet, ask them to collaborate on something. I promise the magic that happens will change everything for your students.

Librarians, you already know. But just in case nobody’s told you lately: what you do matters more than you’ll ever fully see. Happy School Library Month!! 🎉
