Emory is collaborating once again with the LAA on the LYLC, this time responding to the COVID circumstances with a hybrid version of the LYLC. On Saturday, November 6, we will have about 100 middle and high school students on campus, along with their teachers, for a reduced version of the usual LYLC.
We need university student (undergraduate or graduate) mentor-guides. There are 15 slots for students to sign up to participate as mentor-guides.

Open rank Professor of Spanish and/or Portuguese
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Emory University invites applications for two faculty positions, beginning in August 2022, at the level of either assistant or associate professor. Candidates at the full professor level with proven leadership and administrative experience will also be considered. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Hispanic Studies, Latin American Studies, Latinx Studies or related discipline or interdisciplinary degree) by time of appointment and have native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese and English. We are especially interested in candidates whose research and teaching address issues of race, ethnicity, and indigeneity in the cultures of Latin America, Africa, Iberia, and/or the United States. Emory University places a high value on both teaching and scholarship, and the candidate must show experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of a culturally diverse student body. Of special importance is a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments and programs at Emory, such as African Studies, Anthropology, Global Health, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Linguistics.
Review of applications will begin October 29, 2021. Full consideration will be given to all applications received by Nov. 30, 2021. Applicants are asked to submit their materials using the following link: http://apply.interfolio.com/95576. Candidates will be asked to submit additional supporting materials if selected to participate further in the recruitment process. Please address letter of application to Prof. James Melton, Chair of the Search Committee. Contact for questions: [email protected].
