With the sun shining and the air feeling just right, it was the perfect spring day for Kindergarten to visit the Zoo. Seeing wild animals up close to their natural habitats was an exciting way for students to connect with what they’re learning in class and understand more about the world around them!

Holocaust survivor, Ben Walker, shared a powerful testimony with our Middle School students. Mr. Walker courageously recounted the harrowing experiences of his survival during and after World War II, shedding light on the resilience and strength of the human spirit. Middle school students took part in an educational activity in which they inscribed the names of Shoah victims onto stones. These stones will be displayed at a Holocaust memorial, serving as a tangible tribute and a powerful reminder of the individuals lost during the Holocaust.

Third Grade went on an exciting adventure to the Dahlonega Gold Mine as part of their Georgia history unit. They explored a real underground mine, learned about the discovery of gold and the experiences of Georgia miners, and had a blast panning for sparkling gemstones! β›πŸ’Žβœ¨

Throughout this week, Davis students have been participating in beautiful, creative, delicious, and entertaining Seders. Our Lower School model Seders are a tradition going back to the earliest days of Davis and, over the years, have evolved to reflect different themes and aspects of Passover. Students proudly demonstrate their Jewish and Hebrew learning and indulge in special holiday experiences and treats, including searching for the afikoman and devouring chocolate-covered Matzah. Thank you to all the teachers and parent volunteers who made the Seders extra special! Chag Pesach Sameach!

Tyler Rosenbluth, a medical student, visited Mechina as part of the Little Einstein’s program. πŸ”¬ Students were introduced to some of her medical tools and took turns pretending to be doctor and patient, and listening to each other’s hearts with a stethoscope. 🩺 It was a fun way to learn about doctor’s visits and feel a lot more comfortable about them! 😊🌟

We were absolutely blown away by our talented cast and crew of over 150 students, ranging from Mechina through 8th grade, who dazzled audiences during four fantastic, sold-out performances of Moana Jr.! 🎭✨ Our nationally recognized Broadway-style musical is a yearly highlight and one of Davis's most unique experiences. The Davis student body came together on stage and behind the scenes to participate in the musical. As part of Project Impact, 6th grade students created their own personalized Yads (Torah Pointers) through the world-renowned Jewish artist Gary Rosenthal, z”l. Using their artistic skills and imagination, the students crafted stunning glass mosaics that will be fused onto metal. These unique and meaningful creations will be used by the students at their upcoming Bar or Bat mitzvah, and will undoubtedly become treasured daily heirlooms for generations to come. ✨

Chag Purim Sameach! 🎭
What an incredible and action-packed Purim celebration we had! πŸŽ‰A heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTO volunteers for bringing the holiday to life with fun-filled activities, festive decorations, and so much Purim joy. From the Purim Shpiel to an exciting Purim carnival, every moment was filled with laughter and ruach. And of course, our entire Davis kehillah dressed the partβ€”whether in traditional costumes like Queen Esther, King Ahasuerus, and Mordechai, or grade-level themes such as Cookies & Milk, Wicked, Pie & Pi, and Moana, creativity was on full display!
