The Invention Studio is a student-run makerspace open to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff for free. We provide tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, a waterjet, and more. Our friendly student volunteers, known as Prototyping Instructors, will teach you how to use the tools and help you with your project. We welcome personal projects, class projects, and academic research projects.
The Invention Studio opened its doors in October 2008, offering students space and resources to develop innovative projects in a collaborative environment. The Invention Studio began as a support for the Capstone Design program, but it has spread to support more than 25 Georgia Tech design and build courses, and many research initiatives. The Invention Studio is unique in that students “own” the space. The Prototyping Instructors lead other students in the safe use and maintenance of the space and equipment, ensuring that the resources remain available to all students, faculty and staff regardless of major or status.
