🎉 Exciting News! 🎉
We are thrilled to announce that the Campbell-Wright HBCU Gullah Geechee Internship Program has been awarded a $670,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation! This transformative program, hosted by Morehouse College, will empower HBCU students to preserve the rich cultural and historical legacy of the Gullah Geechee Corridor.

🌊 What We’re About
Through immersive internships, historical interpretation training, and cultural preservation projects, we’re building a bridge between tradition and innovation. Students will gain hands-on experience working with Gullah Geechee elders, cultural sites, and archives to sustain this vital heritage for future generations.

💡 Why It Matters
This is the first HBCU-led initiative of its kind, addressing the urgent need to preserve Gullah Geechee history and empowering students to create lasting change in their communities.

👀 Stay tuned for updates as we launch this incredible journey!

As we approach the month of July, Morehouse Movement, Memory, & Justice Project is celebrating another remarkable Gullah Geechee Summer Experience!

Students from Morehouse College, Howard University, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University participated in this two-week immersive journey, visiting St. Helena Island, SC; Beaufort, SC; Hilton Head Island, SC; Bluffton, SC; Savannah, GA; and Daufuskie Island.

The two summer sessions offered an engaging experience that allowed the students to fully dive into the culture, history, and environments that they visited. We extend our heartfelt thank you to The Historic Penn Center and Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park for having us! We also express our deep gratitude to our directors Tendaji Bailey and Dr. Corrie Claiborne, and to all the Morehouse staff who made these trips possible.
