It’s with a heavy heart that Philip Weltner Library bids farewell to its star Reference and Instruction Librarian, Evie Wang.
For the past two years Evie has shared her warmth, vibrance, and uniqueness through her enthusiastic involvement throughout the Oglethorpe community. From conducting classes on how to find the right article for research, to being a vocal coach to the Jazzy Petrels and cheering them on at concerts, to participating in campus-wide events such as the Liberal Arts Science Symposium (LASS), to connecting with students, faculty, and staff alike; Evie Wang has been an integral part of Oglethorpe University. Her absence will be felt not only at Philip Weltner Library, but across the campus as well—she will be sorely missed!
Some of Evie’s fondest memories as a fellow Stormy Petrel were field trips with former Library Director Eli Arnold’s Intro to Archival Studies class, attending and presenting at the Georgia Libraries Conference, teaching FYS and getting to know all her amazing students, watching the student works featured at the last Looks Film Festival, and celebrating graduating seniors at the Golden Threads Senior Celebration and the Lavender Ceremony.
As she ends this chapter with us here at Oglethorpe, we wish Evie the very best as she begins a brand-new chapter at another respected institution. Evie leaves us with this heartfelt message:
“My deepest gratitude to everyone in this community: students, faculty, and staff, who collaborated with me, supported me, watched me grow, and allowed me to serve you as a librarian and campus partner. It’s been my absolute honor!”
