Hello out there! RCB Accounting is back from the crypt after a long summer “GAAP” (it was nice and cool down there)! 👻
Happy October, everyone! Tell us — WITCH scary accounting topic would you be for Halloween? 🎃

A BIG Congratulations 🎉 to our newest Accounting PhD graduates! Dr. Kaitlin Hudspeth (second from left) is joining the faculty at Southern Mississippi University and Dr. Jason (Youngseok) Moon is joining the faculty at The University of Manchester. They are pictured with their dissertation chairs, GSU Professors Ivo Tafkov and Matt DeAngelis. We will miss them here at GSU, but are so proud of their accomplishments and wishing them the best of luck in their new chapters!

The answer to yesterday's is Professor Andrew Pierce! 👏 Dr. Pierce came to GSU from the faculty of the University of Manchester in the UK. When he isn't teaching Introduction to Accounting or working on his research, you might find him training for an Ironman. He's already completed a half Ironman, and hopes to one day do a full 🏆. It's no surprise, then, that he ran cross country and track while in college, or that he enjoys biking in his spare time. He also loves hanging out with his wife and three daughters. Did you think that was a tough one? His office decor sure didn't give much away 😉 but there's something to be said for a distraction-free environment! Be sure to say hello to Prof. Pierce when you see him in around campus!

is back! Spring Break may be coming up, but we don't think this accounting professor's clutter-free office needs any spring cleaning. Why distract from the view? The creepy building that is the focal point of this professor's window view is the original HQ of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, now abandoned for about 50 years. But we hear it's being turned into an entertainment, shopping, and apartment complex in time for the World Cup...so this office view may be getting an upgrade very soon! Can you guess which professor this office belongs to? Leave your guess in the comments for a chance to wine some SOA swag!

Happy first day of Spring Semester 2025! The SOA welcomes back all of our students, and wishes you all the best of luck in your academic and professional endeavors this year! Rewind our grid to January 2024 to read more about our each of our suggestions for New Years resolutions that can help accounting students achieve their goals. And leave your personal resolutions in the comments! We believe in you!

Did y'all think that was a tough one? Kudos if you guessed the correct answer - that's Professor Abdullah Al-Moshaigeh, one of our excellent professors! In addition to teaching auditing to both undergraduate and graduate students, Dr. Al-Moshaigeh also teaches accounting information systems. He and his family love all things - from movies, to merch, to theme parks. 🏰 He also enjoys spending time in nature. Be sure to wave "Hello" and "Goodbye" (for now) to Dr. Al-Moshaigeh and the rest of your accounting professors when you see them around campus this week! We all wish you good luck on your finals! 👏📚

We’re back for another round of , and we have a doozie for you this week in honor of finals week! This round might be a real tough one to guess if you haven’t visited this office in person, because we found this professor to have a rather nostalgic décor style… that is, we found out that several of the wall hangings and other knick-knacks in this office were left behind by previous residents. Thus, the source and nature of the evidence may be less than reliable in this case! 😉 Nevertheless, if you inspect the photos closely, you may uncover some substantive clues 🕵️😃 to help you identify the professor who currently occupies this office! Leave your best guess in the comments!

Raise your hand if you guessed it! The answer to this week's is none other than Professor Peter Demerjian, who is not only a faculty member, but also the Director of the School of Accountancy! 👏 Although Dr. Demerjian is the face of accounting here at GSU, he has many other talents. He was the class poet at his high school (a poet and a scholar!), once ran a 50K road race, and plays several instruments.🎶 He is reading the presidential biographies in order, and is currently on Benjamin Harrison - a president that Office Raiders, frankly, had to Google 😹 . He worked at McDonalds for six years during high school and college. With such a wide array of interests and experiences, it’s no surprise that Dr. Demerjian leads the SOA with fearless dedication and curiosity, inspiring us all to aim for excellence and embrace new challenges!

is back - and this might be our biggest reveal yet! This faculty member came from humble beginnings - working at the big, golden arches 🍟 - but now occupies the biggest office on the SOA floor. By the looks of things, we gleaned that the professor in this office has read some big books 📚, won some big research awards 🏆, led some big meetings - and just celebrated a big birthday! 🎂
