ROGELIO LAWSIN Endorsement for Scott Bland for Citadel Board of Visitors
**This endorsement does not imply support of the Atlanta Citadel Club — this is strictly the endorsement of a private CAA member who is also a member of the ACC.**
As The Citadel faces an increasingly complex educational and geopolitical landscape, it is more important than ever that we preserve the institution's enduring values of Duty, Honor, and Respect while preparing the next generation of principled leaders.
That is why I am proud to endorse Scott Bland for The Citadel's Board of Visitors.
Scott brings a rare combination of military, executive, and entrepreneurial leadership. As both an enlisted soldier and commissioned officer, a healthcare executive, a small business owner, and a graduate-trained business professional, he has built a career defined by service, sound judgment, strategic leadership, and organizational stewardship.
His commitment to The Citadel is lifelong. The Bland family's connection to our alma mater spans generations, including his twin brother Jeff ('91), brother-in-law Chaucer Godfrey ('95), son Coleman ('26), and nephews Tyson Trottier ('24, Football), Yates Bland ('25, Baseball), and Wyatt Bland ('27). The Citadel is more than a school to Scott—it's a family legacy.
Scott is committed to preserving what makes The Citadel unique. He believes rank, recognition, and leadership must always be earned through merit. He is committed to protecting the Fourth Class System as a defining part of the cadet experience, restoring and expanding the family-style mess throughout the Corps to strengthen accountability and camaraderie, and ensuring The Citadel never loses its identity as America's premier military college by becoming "just another college with uniforms and an ROTC program."
His commitment extends well beyond campaign season. Scott is a Life Member of The Citadel Alumni Association, an active member of the Columbia, Lexington, and Chapin Area Citadel Clubs, a past board member of the Lexington Area Citadel Club, and a member of The Brigadier Foundation's Colonels Club. He has consistently invested his time and leadership in supporting our alma mater.
I believe Scott Bland has the experience, integrity, and vision to serve The Citadel well on the Board of Visitors. I respectfully ask my fellow alumni to join me in supporting his election and helping ensure The Citadel remains true to its mission and traditions for generations to come.
