This month in history: September 🍂

Fall sports and academics are back in full swing, but a new school year at Lovett has always meant something else, too: Opening Chapel. Here are some highlights from this year's Centennial ceremony, alongside a look back through the decades.

Collaboration is one of the best ways to learn! Upper School Marine Biology students paired up with a 4th grade science class last week to grow and learn together. US students shared their science notebooks and discussed the importance of keeping notes as a scientist. This was the just the first cross-aged Peer Assisted Learning collaboration between LS Science and US Marine Biology. These students will meet again to continue to build relationships, ask questions, and learn about science!

Construction begins now! We officially broke ground last Thursday on Rita Anne Rollins Hall. And this wasn’t Lovett’s first groundbreaking—swipe through to see moments from decades past on our campus.

A first for the Battle of Buckhead! Last Friday night, The Lovett Singers partnered with the Westminster Choruses to perform the National Anthem. This was the first time we combined choral talents to celebrate the special tradition between our schools. An unforgettable start to an amazing game for the Lovett Lions!

Today, we broke ground on Rita Anne Rollins Hall!

Named for beloved Lovett alumna Rita Anne Rollins ’72, this new heart of campus will feature a light-filled atrium for hands-on learning, a chapel overlooking the Riverbank, dance studios, a new dining hall, and a Nexus greenspace connecting our Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. It's a space designed around how our students will think, create, and grow for generations to come.

Thank you to the Rollins family and the entire Lovett community for the generosity that made today possible.

From 75 to 100 years of Lovett! This week, Upper School students, accompanied by Lovett archivist Kirsten Berlin, opened a time capsule curated by Lovett students in 2001. In it was a collection of 2001’s latest technology, predictions for the future, and school memorabilia. 25 years later, students examined the contents of the capsule and discussed what surprised them and what should go into our next time capsule! What items do you think would best represent the year 2026 to future Lovett students?

Lovett vs. Westminster is TONIGHT! 🦁🏈 The name "The Battle of Buckhead" was coined in 2005 when Mike Muschamp became the Lovett head football coach. But, the rivalry goes back to the early '60s when Lovett formed its first football team. Check out some of these throwbacks from the Lovett vs. Westminster football game in 2001!
