Art at Home ATL

The art experience that comes to you: bringing hands on lessons with talented local artists to your home or community setting. If you live in the Atlanta Metro Area and want to take private art lessons, have group art lessons, learn a new skill, hone an artistic talent, or try something new... Art at Home ATL may be the answer for you or other family members of all ages.

We offer art from A to Z (Adobe Photoshop to Zen-tangled glass bottles) in one-time projects and as multiple classes. And, our artists come to you where you are! Yes, we do parties, corporate team building events, after school enrichment classes and more! Birthdays, sip n' paints, girls' night in, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and all "reason to get together occasions." Art at Home lets you, your family, and friends learn a new skill or hone an artistic talent by creating quality art work to cherish or give as gifts. Our expert artists, carefully screened, and trained in a variety of art disciplines, visit your home/school/workplace with all the supplies necessary to create a particular work in a chosen medium such as: bookbinding, ceramics, drawing/cartooning, embroidery, felting, flower arranging, glassworks, jewelry making, knitting, painting, sewing and soapmaking- and more. (See our projects). They also can teach a series of introductory lessons if you are just beginning to explore the arts, such as drawing or painting, or even adobe photoshop. During 90-minute, 2-hour, or 3-hour sessions, based on the scope of the selected project, and then scheduled based on mutual availability, our artists provide instruction, one-on-one or in small groups, providing a fun activity for you or a group of friends. This is a great opportunity for homeschoolers to explore a variety of artistic mediums. It is also a great option for a party or team-building event!

It's a Good Sign - really! That's what we call our sign painting events. We hope the signs they made yesterday afternoon are heart warming for the Egleston Children's Hospital Cardiac Services nurses.

Would you work at Woodworking? Montessori In Town would!
Year 1 they made race cars, year 2 birdhouses, year 3 a wood clock with ceramic numbers. So what were we going to do this year??? Artist Gwen taught them how to make criss-cross chair and a sofa arm cup holder!

"It's a Good Sign!" Thank you CHOA PICU Chaplaincy (Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) for having AAH lead a sign-making art project for your nurses' retreats. Yesterday's PICU group was a lively, fun-loving bunch. They were laughing and smiling so it was hard to capture everyone with eyes open.

Summer Camps

Art at Home summer camps are right around the corner! Our art camps will be offered at a number of the Atlanta area schools. Check out our website for details: Join in the fun:)

I loved doing lanyards when I was at camp. Kumihimo is like lanyards on steroids! Two groups at Cliff Vally School really enjoyed practicing this ancient Japanese art of the Samurais.

Some creative fun with ceramics: we worked with Atlanta Montessori International School to make mugs out of clay! When we met again the following week they put on the handle and base on the mugs and glazed them.

[04/02/18]   Dismantling a disposable camera - that's a great way to see how a camera works! Then the Montessori In Town group lined up spaced evenly across a room to see the different perspectives, and varying pictures from each vantage point.

This week AAH is featuring Maurice Thompson and his photography. Maurice has been teaching our after school photography enrichment classes. These are all photos taken by Maurice!

This week's featured artist is Rosa McMurtray! @Rosa Rosae Art (Rosa McMurtray). She is originally from Spain and her work has been exhibited in various US galleries and internationally.

Nurses from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta participated in our "Paint & Switch" Event last December and this week! These events are always crowd pleasers, and everyone gets to bring home some beautiful artwork.

This week we are featuring our comic book artist Vincent Allen! Fore Runner Comics by Vincent E. Allen. He is developing his own world of superhero characters. He also shares his Atlanta comic book universe with different characters from Marvel & DC comics. He even does commission work making individuals into superheroes (see the wedding poster).

Art at Home Holiday Jewelry Making class at Montessori In Town

Here's a short clip showing the kids at work, beading zipper poles. They're all so enwrapped in their artwork! Thank you, Artist Mary!

Part 2 of our Holiday Gift-Making class with Decatur Montessori School! The children painted their final pieces with green, blue and purple glazes, and all that's left now is firing them up in the kiln. We're so excited to see how they all turn out!

With the holiday season in full swing, children at Montessori In Town created some potential gifts in our jewelry-making class!

During the month of November, IHG Owners Association participated in our 'Paint and Switch' event! It's always fun to create your own piece of art, and at the end, everyone gets the chance to keep what they make!

Just a few of the very cute "handmade" reindeer palm prints that children from Kids' Zone Daycare & Learning Center created! The school asked us to develop a holiday project that every student age 3 and up could bring home to their family. The children also block printed trees on both sides.
What a fun event!

We hope the families will appreciate having their children's handprints as a keepsake as they grow older. Happy Holidays!

Last Wednesday in our Holiday Gift-Making class, the children from Decatur Montessori School made soap dishes and jewelry bowls. As always, it was a joy to watch them display their creative abilities!

As 2017 comes to an end, we want to take December to highlight many of the workshops we held throughout the year. We truly thank our Art at Home artists and wonderful students for the amazing art they created together!

This group of students from the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. worked with our comic book artist Vincent to make their own cartoon characters. Enjoy perusing their sketches!

Thanks to Clark Patterson Lee for a fun glass-etching event at Serenbe!

Decatur Montessori summer camp

[08/11/17]   Hi friends, it's Facebook Friday for Art at Home. Last week we had a wonderful week of art camp at Decatur Montessori. Our class of 3 - 6 year olds enjoyed painting, making hummingbird feeders (painting bottles and making bright red ceramic flowers on top to attract the birds), block printing, wet felting and more. Peruse the photos - and have a wonderful weekend.

Give it up for the bride and groom!

For those Hamilton fans "A toast to the groom, to the bride"... we had a wine glass etching class at Barnsley Resort. It's wonderful to see the variety of designs the group etched into a selection of glasses.

It's in-house field trip season - campers at Kid's r Kids spend the morning building a geodesic dome. STEAMing along...

We made Square Bubbles in one of our STEAM programs. Amazing.
