Hapkido is a Korean martial art, which translates as "The Way of Coordinated Power". Although Hapkido has existed in its present form only since the 1950's, its roots can be traced back to the ancient martial art of aiki-jujitsu. Hapkido is a comprehensive martial art, and includes very diverse techniques such as kicks, strikes, rolls, grappling and joint locks. It is classified as a "soft" martia

l art because Hapkido focuses on redirecting and avoiding an opponent's force. Hapkido's adaptability makes it practical for students of all sizes and ages. Some consider it the first mixed martial art, since it combines techniques used in other martial arts.
