Firefighters battle intense blaze at Northeast Atlanta home, no injuries reported 05/10/2026

WORKING FIRE — NORTHEAST ATLANTA

Atlanta Fire Rescue crews battled a residential structure fire Sunday morning on Berkshire Road NE. According to 11Alive, crews arrived to find a one-story wood-frame home with heavy fire and smoke showing, with fire extension into the attic. Firefighters started with an offensive attack while conducting searches, then later transitioned to defensive operations as conditions worsened. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.

Good reminder of how quickly attic involvement can change the risk profile on a residential fire. Respect to the crews operating and making the call to adjust tactics when conditions changed.

🚨 Atlanta stays busy — and so do our firefighters who protect it.

In 2025, Engine 6 and Truck 1 were the busiest units in the city, responding to thousands of calls and carrying a heavy workload every shift. 📊

AFRD is one of the busiest fire departments in the country. The demand is constant — and these units, like all Atlanta firefighters, answer it every day. 🔥🚒
