I am half Chinese.

In case you live under a rock (ha!) it is - stands for Asian and Pacific Islander. I couldn’t let this month go by without acknowledging my heritage. I continued to be is inspired by my beautiful, strong sister who has really stepped in to her advocacy this year.

As a child, I never quite “fit in” in either category- Caucasian or Asian. Growing up in the south, all I wanted to do was “fit in”. This last year has been a lot of unpacking and revisiting traumas, cultural and familial expectations, and doing some hard work. I’m in awe of those who are starting to stand up to bullying and mistreatment of Asian Americans in a culture that values silence. I love how we can evolve.

As an adult, I am proud of who I’m becoming. I’m proud of my heritage. I am proud to be different and unique- I am special. Whatever your background, you are too. ❤️

Celebrating and remembering mother figures in my life today, and the little boy dog that made me a mother.

This day can be hard for some, and I’ve had more than my fair share of challenging Mother’s Days…. AND I’ve had my fair share of blessings. Feeling grateful, blessed and thoughtful today. I hope my mother would proud of who I am and who I am becoming.

I can’t believe is almost over! I took this pic the other day when I was feeling confident and makeup-free. To be honest, that’s not every day. There’s ups and downs & all arounds.... and it is SO SO SO worth it. This last year has definitely challenged my eating disorder recovery of 10+ years but if there’s anything I have learned it’s to be more kind to myself, and to give myself some grace while I continue to work on myself and examine my patterns and motivations. I’m learning to allow more grey in my black and white world, and that progress is more meaningful than perfection.

Recovery is possible. You’re worth it. It’s worth it. I promise. ❤️
