Here’s what Kourtney had to say about her experience Beyond the Arch:

“Since graduating in 2020, I spent a few years working in legal and regulatory compliance at a start up tech company before starting law school in 2024. In 2022, I won the national title of Miss Princess of America which gave me the opportunity to facilitate a fabulous year of service focused on service, equitable fashion, and minority mental health. I currently work as a legal intern at an entertainment and digital media law firm based in Los Angeles, and as a legal extern at JD Sports. I will be graduating from law school in August of 2027 and plan to practice entertainment law post graduation.”

Spelman Women are forging paths in all walks of life! 🌟

Hear from Dr. Lenice Horton on her journey Beyond the Arch:

“Since graduating from Spelman, my journey has been filled with both challenges and meaningful triumphs, much like the experiences many of us encounter along the way. Professionally, I continued to grow through higher learning while building a fulfilling career in education and School Counseling. I focused on improving the delivery of counseling services and presenting state and local workshops centered on student and teacher well-being. One of the greatest honors of my career was being recognized as the District’s Elementary School Counselor of the Year in 2018. After retiring from education six years ago, I discovered continued purpose and joy in giving back by volunteering at Spelman throughout the school year. Through this service, I am reminded of the impact and longevity of sisterhood and the importance of continuing to build and nurture meaningful relationships.”

✨ Student Spotlight ✨

Meet Gabby, a graduating senior who has been on quite a few study abroad trips! Here’s what she has to say about her opportunities for global exploration:

“During the Spring 2026 semester, I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain, through the IES Abroad Psychology Program. Studying abroad had been a goal of mine since beginning my matriculation at Spelman. I was eager to immerse myself in a rich and diverse culture while improving my Spanish proficiency. While abroad, I lived with a host family, experiencing Spanish culture firsthand through language, food, and community. I also took psychology courses at the IES Abroad center and joined the program’s Spanish club, where I had the opportunity to practice my Spanish-speaking skills, meet Greg Hess, President and CEO of IES Abroad, participate in bonding events, and attend musical theater productions with fellow club members. Beyond the classroom, I volunteered at a nonprofit organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, where I supported creative arts workshops. On the weekends, I traveled with friends, including some from Spelman, and visited seven countries: Portugal, the Czech Republic, England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Morocco. Along the way, I met people with incredible stories and created lifelong memories. Studying abroad was a transformative experience that strengthened my global competence, expanded my perspective and worldview, and deepened my appreciation for the world around me!”
