You might have chosen a major to study, but don’t let this limit your search for research labs. Modern labs are interdisciplinary and very different from what you do in undergrad labs. Instead of limiting your search to your department, try to look at labs in all related departments. Choose labs based on the questions they’re trying to answer.💡

💡Conducting research, like many other things, leave so much room for growth and learning. A lot of research is about making mistakes! So don’t be afraid to make errors as they can be one of the greatest learning opportunities as a researcher!

To conduct your own research and take on projects on your own, talking with grad students and your PI can help you communicate your technical and career interests as well as learn about other potential projects. Submitting a PURA proposal is also a great way to conduct your own research supervised by Georgia Tech faculty!
